A substantial and diversified Melbourne based Family Office seeks a Chief Financial Officer to oversee the financial management, strategy, and governance of a significant portfolio of investments, operating businesses and real assets.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in preserving and growing family capital, ensuring robust financial governance, and providing strategic insight across multiple asset classes and jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all financial operations, including reporting, compliance, taxation and treasury management
  • Partner with the Principal and the Investment Committee to evaluate and execute new investment opportunities within the operating businesses
  • Manage relationships with banks, advisors and auditors
  • Proactively develop and maintain the Family Office’s financial architecture, systems and controls
  • Support succession planning, intergenerational wealth transfer and family governance frameworks
  • Oversee investment performance reporting
Ideal Candidate
  • Chartered Accountant (CA/CPA) with 15+ years’ experience, ideally including exposure to private investment offices and specifically manufacturing businesses
  • Demonstrable experience and success at the Financial Controller or CFO level within manufacturing companies
  • Strong understanding of taxation and complex entity management
  • Proven ability to operate with discretion, judgment and commercial acumen
  • Comfortable working in a hands‑on environment while engaging strategically at Board and family level
  • Strong hands‑on leadership and integrity, working with a small but capable Finance team
