Job summary

MERKUR Excellence, part of the MERKUR GROUP, is seeking a Game Designer to develop innovative concepts and mechanics for casino games in collaboration with mathematicians, developers, and artists. You will create and maintain design docs, define features, and guide the gameplay flow throughout development.

You will shape the rules and bonus features while ensuring a balanced player experience. A strong team focus and fluent English are required, with German a plus; hybrid work is offered.

Qualifications

• Degree in Game Design, Media Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent qualification.
• Initial professional experience in game design, product design, or game development is an advantage; motivated graduates are also welcome to apply.
• Passion for games and a solid understanding of game mechanics, user experience, and game balancing.
• Structured and creative working style with the ability to document and communicate ideas clearly.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative game concepts and mechanics for casino games in close collaboration with Mathematicians, Software Developers, and Game Artists.
• Create and maintain game design documentation, define game features and gameplay flows, and support implementation throughout the development process.
• Define game rules, bonus features, and the overall user experience to ensure an engaging, well-balanced player experience.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring ideas to life and support market-ready products.
• Analyze existing games, market trends, and player preferences to inspire and shape new game ideas.
