Job summary

University of Vienna seeks a BioNMR Facility & Data Science Specialist to lead BioNMR facility operations and data pipelines. The role combines instrument and infrastructure management with modern data science and coding, serving a user base of researchers and collaborating with external partners.

The position is 34 h/week, located in Vienna, with a four-year initial term and potential for a permanent position after evaluation.

Qualifications

• Holds a Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline.
• Hands-on experience with NMR spectroscopy and data processing pipelines.
• Programming experience in Python and/or R.
• Interest in analytical workflows, chemometrics, and AI in life sciences.
• Motivated, service-oriented and collaborative.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level troubleshooting for instrument and software issues.
• Liaise with vendor support and coordinate problem resolution.
• Conduct routine maintenance and monitor instrument performance.
• Oversee facility IT infrastructure for data acquisition, storage and software.
• Coordinate system updates, backups, data export, archiving and quality checks.
• Develop automated data-processing pipelines in Python and/or R.
• Integrate machine learning tools for spectral processing tasks.
