Job summary

Lever, Inc. in Austria is seeking an Expert Team Lead, SWE to build and lead a team focused on high-quality human data for AI model development. You will hands-on review, label, and evaluate data while setting standards and improving processes.

This role combines people leadership with software engineering, data operations, and scalable tooling, requiring strong collaboration with data managers and engineers to translate model needs into efficient workflows and measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• 1+ years hands-on experience in data labeling, annotation, AI training or evaluation.
• Experience building scalable, high-performance software applications or technical environments.
• Understanding of data quality metrics and annotation workflows.
• Knowledge of AI/ML concepts and how high-quality data affects model performance.
• Experience leading teams, coaching, performance management or certification processes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong communication and collaboration with distributed teams.
• Proficiency with KPI-driven operational improvement; SQL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end quality and delivery for human data projects.
• Lead, coach, and performance-manage a team of AI Tutors.
• Participate in labeling, evaluation, and review activities.
• Establish QA processes, taxonomy standards, and guidelines.
• Monitor KPIs such as quality scores, throughput, and send-back rates.
• Develop training materials and certification benchmarks.
• Partner with data managers and engineers to translate model needs into processes.
• Foster a high-performance culture and career development.
• Document outcomes and communicate status to stakeholders.
• Represent AI Tutor team needs across the organization.
