Metcash is Australia’s leading wholesale distribution company, with $19.5 billion in sales (FY25). We support independent retailers across food, liquor, hardware, and tools with marketing, purchasing, warehousing, distribution, and systems support.

We’re looking for a dedicated Advertising & Promotions Manager for our Thirsty Camel brand. The role is full‑time, permanent and based in South Australia (Gepps Cross) with options for Queensland (Crestmead) or Sydney (Macquarie Park). The successful candidate will travel interstate once every 1–2 months.

About the Opportunity

As Advertising & Promotions Manager, you will embed category strategy by developing and delivering shopper‑led programmes. You’ll negotiate competitive deals with suppliers, ensuring a compelling value proposition and promotional schedule that meets retailer margin expectations.

In this Role

• Develop and implement strategic plans for liquor categories (beer, cider, wine) aligned with IBA’s retail objectives in partnership with the Category team.
• Analyse market trends, consumer insights and competitor activity to inform category decisions.
• Embed category strategy by building programmes aligned to the channel’s strategic priorities.
• Collaborate with the Liquor Alliance, aligning promotional and advertising activities with the Thirsty Camel category strategy and marketing plans.
• Own and manage supplier relationships, including profitability analysis and mutually agreed JBP’s for selected suppliers.
• Negotiate with suppliers for the best commercial outcomes for retailers.

You're Likely a Match If

• FMCG and liquor industry experience is highly regarded.
• Previous experience in buying or selling (capacity) is demonstrated.
• Experience in category management.
• Strong negotiation skills with external parties.
• Excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to prioritise and meet multiple deadlines.
