Flatiron Software Co is seeking a highly skilled WordPress Developer to join our global engineering team. This backend-focused role builds and optimizes custom WordPress plugins, APIs, and integrations for large-scale, high-performance sites.

You will work with enterprise clients, apply WordPress internals, and ensure scalable, maintainable code while collaborating with frontend, DevOps, QA, and design teams in an Agile environment.

Formación

• 5+ years of professional WordPress development experience, backend-focused.
• Experience with WordPress hooks (actions & filters), custom queries, and optimization strategies.
• Proficient in ACF, CPT UI, Gutenberg.

Responsabilidades

• Design and develop custom WordPress plugins and themes from scratch using PHP, MySQL, and modern best practices.
• Implement advanced custom fields (ACF), custom post types, and taxonomies for structured data management.
• Optimize database queries and improve performance across complex WordPress sites (meta queries, caching, indexing).
• Integrate WordPress with third-party APIs and automation tools.
• Develop and maintain cron jobs, background tasks, and data synchronization scripts.
• Build and maintain Gutenberg blocks or React-based admin components when required.
• Ensure sites meet performance, accessibility, and SEO standards (Lighthouse, Core Web Vitals).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (frontend, DevOps, QA, design) following Agile practices.
• Write clean, well-documented, and unit-tested code following OOP principles and WordPress coding standards.

About the Role

We’re looking for a highly skilled WordPress Developer to join our global engineering team. This position focuses on backend development — building and optimizing custom WordPress plugins, APIs, and integrations for large-scale, high-performance websites.

The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of WordPress internals, experience working with enterprise clients, and a strong understanding of scalable, maintainable code.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional WordPress development experience, focusing on backend and custom plugin work.
• Experience with WordPress hooks (actions & filters), custom queries, and optimization strategies.
• Proficient in ACF, CPT UI, Gutenberg.
• Solid understanding of WordPress REST API, webhooks, and API integrations.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with performance optimization, caching mechanisms, and scalable WordPress architectures.
• Advanced written and spoken English (international client communication required).
