Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to build secure, scalable data platform capabilities and automate data governance controls. Strong Python/SQL, distributed processing, and cloud data experience are required.

You will architect data platforms, implement automation for metadata, lineage, access, and policy enforcement, and mentor other engineers. Fluent English is expected; hybrid work options available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Data Engineering/Software Engineering or STEM fields.
• 5+ years of software/data engineering experience.
• 5+ years with Python, SQL, distributed processing, data modeling, and modern frameworks.
• Experience with cloud data platforms, catalogs, metadata, lineage, and data quality.
• Databricks, Unity Catalog, Data Lake, Apache Spark or similar.
• CI/CD, automated testing, environment separation, production deployment.
• Experience building secure APIs and enterprise tools.
• Exposure to RBAC, secrets management and least-privilege security.
• Full lifecycle: architecture to production support.
• Upper-intermediate English level.

Responsibilities

• Develop secure APIs and enterprise/instrumented tools for AI-enabled apps.
• Design reusable, configuration-driven patterns for governed data services.

• Collaborate with domain experts, PMs and governance teams on controls.
• Establish observability for platform health and policy results.
• Own production-quality code, tests, docs and operational guidance.
• Mentor engineers and guide technical direction across teams.

About the role

MUST HAVES

• Bachelor’s in CS/Data Engineering/Software Engineering/related STEM (or Bachelor’s + Master’s/higher in STEM)
• 5+ years software/data engineering experience (or equivalent demonstrated skill)
• 5+ years with Python, SQL, distributed processing, data modeling, modern data engineering frameworks
• Strong experience with cloud data platforms, data catalogs, metadata, lineage, data quality, access controls
• Databricks, Unity Catalog, Data Lake, Apache Spark, or comparable
• CI/CD, automated testing, environment separation, production deployment
• Experience building secure APIs, MCP servers, or tools for enterprise/AI-enabled apps
• Enterprise identity, RBAC, service accounts, secrets, least-privilege security
• Full lifecycle experience: architecture → development → deployment → production support
• Upper-intermediate English level

NICE TO HAVES

• GitLab CI/CD or comparable
• Policy-as-code, infrastructure-as-code, configuration-driven platforms
• Experience building data marketplaces, governance platforms, or internal developer platforms
• Familiarity with privacy/security/regulatory/AI governance controls
• Experience in regulated or risk-sensitive environments
