Glencore Argentina is seeking a Senior Permitting Specialist to lead permitting activities for the MARA Project, ensuring compliance with provincial and national regulations and corporate standards.

You will coordinate environmental impact studies, technical reports, and sectoral permits, collaborate with cross-functional teams, external consultants, and regulatory authorities to keep the project on schedule.

Formación

  • University degree in Environmental, Chemical, Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or related fields.
  • Postgraduate studies in environmental management or regulatory compliance are desirable.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in similar roles, preferably in mining or large-scale projects.
  • Proven experience in environmental impact assessment, preparation of technical reports, and permitting processes.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental and mining regulations.
  • Experience with permitting management systems and project schedules.
  • Fluent Spanish and intermediate English (desirable).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Project, and document management platforms.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS and AutoCAD is desirable.

About The Role

The Senior Permitting Specialist is part of Glencore Argentina’s Permitting team and plays a key role in the development of the MARA Project, ensuring the identification, management, and timely acquisition of environmental and sectoral permits required throughout the project lifecycle. This role is critical to the project’s viability, ensuring that studies, technical reports, and environmental impact assessments comply with provincial and national regulations, as well as corporate standards, enabling the project to progress in line with the established schedule.

Requirements

Main Purpose of the Role
  • Manage and coordinate permitting activities for the MARA Project.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of environmental impact studies and technical reports.
  • Ensure legal and corporate compliance.
  • Secure permits within project timelines.
Operational Context
  • Part of the Permitting & Environmental Studies team.
  • Works closely with Engineering, Environmental, Social, Legal, and Commercial teams.
  • Coordinates with external consultants.
  • Holds a strategic role impacting approval and progress of project phases.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely acquisition of permits and mitigate regulatory risks.
  • Coordinate the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessment reports and technical documentation.
  • Identify and manage sectoral permits across all project phases.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality and adherence to timelines.
  • Oversee the work of external consultants.
  • Review environmental baseline studies.
  • Prepare and submit documentation to regulatory authorities.
  • Support the management of regulatory observations and addenda.
  • Prepare periodic reports on permitting status.
  • Review approved resolutions to ensure consistency.
  • Maintain updated information in systems and management tools.
  • Ensure tracking of environmental compliance obligations.
  • Support inspection and audit processes.
Control Elements
  • Ensure compliance with national, provincial, and local regulations, as well as IFC and ICMM standards.
  • Use management and document control systems.
  • Maintain strategic coordination with regulatory authorities.
Experience And Skills
  • Strong experience in permitting processes and environmental assessment.
  • In-depth knowledge of environmental and sectoral regulations.
  • Understanding of international environmental and social standards.
  • Experience managing consultants and technical contracts.
  • Strong planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High commitment to safety and HSEC standards.

Travel Requirements
