Playbypoint is building a platform that lets developers and AI agents integrate with our services. We seek a Senior Full Stack Engineer to design and deliver the full external surfaces—REST APIs, MCP servers, skills, and the developer experience layer.

You will own API governance, scalability, and the developer portal, collaborating with product and engineering teams. Strong English communication is essential for US-based stakeholders.

Formación

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a focus on API design, platform development, or developer tooling.
• Experience designing and shipping public or partner-facing APIs at scale with versioning, auth models, and rate limiting.
• Hands-on experience building AI-era integration surfaces — MCP servers, agent skills, LLM tool definitions, or similar patterns.
• Strong emphasis on developer experience: portals, SDKs, or documentation systems that builders love.
• Understanding internal vs external APIs, backward compatibility, and contract stability.

Responsabilidades

• Design and build Playbypoint's external API — versioned, stable, and scalable for a growing ecosystem of partners.
• Develop and maintain MCP servers and skills exposing Playbypoint capabilities to AI agents and tools.
• Own the developer experience end-to-end: API docs, portal, onboarding, SDKs, sandbox environments.
• Define API governance: versioning, deprecation, backward compatibility, breaking-change management.
• Build infrastructure for observability and reliability: rate limiting, auth, throttling, usage analytics.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to expose platform capabilities through contracts.
• Shape how human and AI builders integrate with Playbypoint.

The Role

We're building the platform that lets the world build on top of Playbypoint — and we're looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to be part of it. This goes beyond a traditional external API: you'll design and deliver the full stack of surfaces that enable developers, partners, and AI agents to integrate with us — REST APIs, MCP servers, skills, webhooks, and the developer experience layer that ties it all together.

This is a high-visibility, high-ownership role at the intersection of platform engineering and the emerging ecosystem of AI-powered builders.

Our stack: Ruby on Rails (backend), React + TypeScript (frontend), GraphQL and REST APIs, MySQL / Redis / Sidekiq, cloud-native infrastructure on AWS.

What You'll Do

• Design and build Playbypoint's external API — versioned, stable, and built to scale with a growing ecosystem of integrators and partners.

• Develop and maintain MCP servers and skills that expose Playbypoint capabilities to AI agents and developer tools.

• Own the developer experience end to end: API documentation, developer portal, onboarding flows, SDKs, and sandbox environments.

• Define API governance practices: versioning strategy, deprecation policies, backward compatibility, and breaking change management.

• Build the infrastructure that makes our external surfaces observable and reliable — rate limiting, auth, throttling, usage analytics.

• Partner with product and internal engineering teams to expose platform capabilities through well-designed, consistent integration contracts.

• Track and shape how the ecosystem of builders — human and AI — integrates with Playbypoint.

You Might Thrive in This Role If You

• Have 7+ years of software engineering experience, with significant focus on API design, platform development, or developer tooling.

• Are comfortable across the full stack — backend API design and frontend developer portal/documentation surfaces.

• Have designed and shipped public or partner-facing APIs at scale — versioning, auth models, rate limiting, and the full lifecycle of an external API are familiar territory.

• Have hands-on experience building for AI-era integration surfaces — MCP servers, agent skills, LLM tool definitions, or similar patterns.

• Care deeply about developer experience: you've built or contributed to developer portals, SDKs, or documentation systems that builders actually love.

• Understand the difference between an internal API and an external one — backward compatibility, contract stability, and the cost of breaking changes are not abstract concepts.

• Are comfortable working across teams to define integration contracts that balance internal velocity with external stability.

• Communicate clearly and default to async. Strong written and spoken English is a must — we work closely with US-based stakeholders and partners, and our developer-facing surfaces are products in themselves.

Engineering in the AI Era

We expect every engineer at Playbypoint to work with AI as a core part of their craft — not as a novelty, but as a force multiplier across the entire SDLC. That means:

• Actively using AI tools throughout the development lifecycle — design, coding, code review, testing, debugging, and incident analysis.

• Having built AI-powered tooling or agents — whether internal automation, LLM-integrated features, or workflow improvements that shipped to production.

• Knowing when AI adds real value and when it doesn't — judgment matters more than enthusiasm.

We don't expect everyone to be an AI researcher. We do expect you to be fluent in the tools and patterns of the moment, and curious about what's next.

Bonus

• Experience building API gateways, developer portals, or API management platforms.

• Deep familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol), agent skill frameworks, or AI-native integration patterns.

• Background in vertical SaaS, marketplaces, or fintech — where API reliability directly impacts partner revenue.

• Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger, webhook infrastructure, or event-driven integration patterns.

• Experience with Ruby on Rails at scale.
