Purpose of the Role

The Sr. Biodiversity Specialist will lead the planning and execution of biodiversity management across Glencore’s copper projects (MARA and El Pachón). The role ensures compliance with national and international standards (IFC, ICMM, Copper Mark, Glencore standards) while driving innovation, sustainability, and building trust with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and design baseline studies and biodiversity monitoring programs (flora, fauna, ecosystems).
• Develop and implement Biodiversity Management Plans (BMPs) aligned with “No Net Loss / Net Gain” principles.
• Identify critical habitats, assess impacts, and coordinate mitigation and compensation strategies.
• Ensure regulatory and corporate compliance, producing accurate technical and corporate reports.
• Collaborate with communities, authorities, NGOs, and internal teams (water, safety, engineering, social performance).
• Incorporate innovative tools (eDNA, bioacoustics, remote sensing, AI) into monitoring and conservation practices.

Qualifications

• Degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, or related.
• Postgraduate studies in Biodiversity Conservation, Ecology or Environmental Management (desirable).
• +10 years of professional experience in environmental management, with at least 7 years in biodiversity.
• Proven experience in mining or large infrastructure projects.
• Advanced Spanish and English (oral and written).
