An international police organization is seeking an IT Coordinator for the Americas to enhance the use of INTERPOL's I-24/7 system. SUMMARY OF ASSIGNED DUTIES INCLUDING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE POST

The Executive Directorate for Technology and Innovation (EDTI) oversees the development of the critical technological infrastructure of INTERPOL. The role of the Information Systems and Technology Directorate (IS) is to develop and implement the Organization’s IT strategy by acquiring and supporting IT products and services, deploying IT products and services to internal and external users including member countries, and ensuring the appropriate security of the Organization’s data and information.

Outreach is the Department of the Sub-Directorate IT Customer Services (ICS) within the IS Directorate and is in charge of the promotion, development, and deployment of the use of INTERPOL products, tools and services within its member countries and regional and international Organizations.

The IT Coordinator (for her/his respective region) works closely with other Directorates in particular with Global Outreach & Regional Support (GORS) Directorate and all its Sub-Directorates (by region) with the objective to develop the access to INTERPOL services and by extensions to I-24/7 network.

The incumbent will be particularly requested to provide the Assistant-Director IT Customer Services with daily coordination support to the activities pertaining to an INTERPOL region. To do so, he/she will be streamlining and reporting to the Head of Department Outreach activities related to the region at stake and enhance collaboration and communication with other stakeholders e.g., Regional Bureaus (RBs), project managers, specialized units, external partners and with GORS, Operational Support & Analysis (OSA) and other Executive Directorate Police Services (EDPS) Directorates.

The incumbent will also be expected to work in close collaboration with IS/ICS under leading of the Head of Department Outreach to facilitate for the Assistant-DirectorICS consistent regional management and prevent potential overlapping/oversight of regional activities at Sub-Directorate level.

The incumbent will be required to manage complex cases or projects on very specialized aspects within the context of the global IT Customer Services strategy and under the guidance of the Assistant-Directorics.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES
DUTY 1 – Lead technically the regional and/or international cooperation and promote the use of INTERPOL I-24/7 policing capabilities in her/his region:
  • Acquire and develop a knowledge of her/his region and especially the opportunity to increase the use of INTERPOL I-24/7 policing capabilities through internal and external funded projects.
  • Develop her/his relationship with Head of INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) and NCB Officers.
  • Acquire and develop a professional network in her/his region to develop the presence of INTERPOL within the different Police and Law Enforcement Agencies.
  • Develop and maintain the cooperation and relation with the NCB and Law Enforcement Agencies in the different countries of her/his region.
  • Establish regular contacts with major international Organizations, i.e., United Nations (UN) agencies, and key IT suppliers to synergize and promote INTERPOL IT products and services.
  • Collaborate with related regional GORS Desk to prepare expansion strategy and yearly Business Plan.
DUTY 2 - Co-ordinate the general activities executed by technical experts from IS Directorate in her/his region:
  • Support I-24/7’ThreeTs expansion and the technical experts during whole deployment projects lifecycle from the initial stage to hand-over to IT operations.
  • Address requests for resources to relevant Assistant Director within IS upon member countries’ needs.
  • Provide technical guidance to Regional IT Officers.
  • Supervise the assistance provided to member countries in keeping operational, implementing, and upgrading their secure network communications.
  • Co-ordinate the activities of the Regional IT officers with regards to needs from other directorates requests concerning training sessions with the RB or within region, conference, INTERPOL Incident Response Team (IRT)/INTERPOL Major Event Support Team (IMEST) or assistance to Member Countries.
  • Monitor the technical assistance provided to member countries encountering problems with their network, equipment, use of INTERPOL tools services (mail, dashboard, access to databases, authentication, etc.).
DUTY 3 - Participate to the ICs Sub-Directorate management:
  • Provide regional information to Assistant Directorics to prepare yearly Business Plan in cooperation with GORS.
  • Report to Assistant Directorics about the results of the missions of the Regional Product Deployment Officers (RPDOs in the region).
  • Participate to the ICs Outreach Department management.
DUTY 4– Other relevant duties
  • Perform any other duties as required by the hierarchy.
QUALIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATION REQUIRED:
  • Three years education at a University or specialized higher education establishment with higher university degree or equivalent in engineering, general information technology, computer science and project management.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • 5 years in the area in question and especially within Information Systems unit or dealing with IT Users’ requirements
LANGUAGES:
  • Spanish and English for America.
  • Proficiency in a third official working language of the Organization (English, Arabic, French or Spanish) would be an additional asset.
  • Proficiency in another language of the region would be an additional asset.
ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • The knowledge of her/his region is an added value.
  • Knowledge of the law enforcement/police domain would be an advantage.
