Prometeo Talent is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer for a US-based cybersecurity startup. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Python, and own features end-to-end in a distributed system environment.

The role emphasizes strong ownership, startup-style autonomy, and collaboration with a highly technical team. Remote work from LATAM is supported, with AI-assisted development workflows to boost productivity.

Formación

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering or backend development.
• 5+ professional experience with Python, building and maintaining production-grade backend systems.
• Strong experience with Java.
• Hands-on experience with AI/LLM-based application development (AI agents, agentic systems, or LLM-powered applications)
• Experience building AI-driven features, LLM integrations, or agentic workflows in production environments is highly preferred.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, scalable architectures, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience working with databases, message queues, and data processing pipelines.
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
• Proven experience building, maintaining, optimizing, and improving products after launch.
• Strong ownership mindset, autonomy, and ability to thrive in startup or fast-paced environments.
• Advanced English level

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who thrives in startup environments and enjoys building scalable systems from the ground up.

This role is ideal for engineers who combine deep backend expertise with a strong ownership mindset . You will play a key role in designing , building , and maintaining distributed systems while collaborating with a highly technical and fast-moving team.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Java and Python , enjoys solving complex engineering problems, and embraces AI-assisted development workflows to increase productivity without compromising quality.
