Sundt Construction seeks a Materials Manager to support project field operations by overseeing receiving, storage, tracking, and distribution of materials and equipment. You will align material flows with project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements while leading the material handling team.

This role collaborates with procurement and field leadership, ensures accurate inventory, implements management software, and champions a safe, efficient supply chain on site.

Formación

  • Experience with material management or inventory software.
  • Familiarity with equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance programs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in warehouse, logistics, or construction material management with supervisory experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Knowledge of inventory control, logistics coordination, and material handling practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of construction processes and project scheduling.

Responsabilidades

  • Coordinate forecast of material needs with procurement, vendors, and project leadership.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, including OS&D tracking.
  • Distribute materials and equipment to field operations per schedule.
  • Implement and manage material management software and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Oversee receiving, inspection, and documentation of materials to specifications.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance programs for equipment.
  • Identify opportunities to improve material handling, logistics, and inventory processes.
  • Promote safety compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Lead, train, and mentor warehouse staff fostering safety and continuous improvement.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Performs active support of project field operations by managing the receiving, storage, tracking, and distribution of materials and equipment. Responsible for overseeing all material management functions to ensure alignment with project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role includes supervising material handling teams, coordinating with procurement and field leadership, and ensuring efficient and accurate material flow throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Summary

Performs active support of project field operations by managing the receiving, storage, tracking, and distribution of materials and equipment. Responsible for overseeing all material management functions to ensure alignment with project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role includes supervising material handling teams, coordinating with procurement and field leadership, and ensuring efficient and accurate material flow throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordination & Planning - Collaborate with procurement teams, vendors, and project leadership to forecast material needs, schedule deliveries, and ensure readiness for project demands.
  • Inventory Control - Maintain accurate inventory records, including tracking Over, Short, and Damaged (OS&D) materials, and ensure discrepancies are documented and communicated to appropriate stakeholders.
  • Material Distribution - Coordinate and manage the timely distribution of materials and equipment to field operations in alignment with project schedules and construction sequencing.
  • Material Management Systems - Implement and manage project-approved material management software systems, ensuring all tracking, reporting, and documentation are accurate and up to date.
  • Material Receiving & Inspection - Oversee the receipt, inspection, and documentation of all incoming materials and equipment, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  • Preventive Maintenance Oversight - Ensure preventive maintenance (PM) programs are executed for all assigned equipment, maintaining operational readiness and compliance with warranty requirements.
  • Process Improvement - Identify opportunities to improve material handling, logistics, and inventory processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste or delays.
  • Safety & Compliance - Ensure all material management activities comply with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific requirements. Promote a strong safety culture across all operations.
  • Storage & Preservation - Ensure all materials and equipment are stored, handled, and preserved in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and project requirements to prevent damage or loss.
  • Team Leadership & Development - Supervise, train, and mentor warehouse and material handling personnel, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Job Requirements
  • Experience working with material management or inventory tracking software systems.
  • Familiarity with equipment maintenance practices and preventive maintenance programs preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in warehouse, logistics, or construction material management, including supervisory experience; or verifiable experience as a Material Manager.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control systems, logistics coordination, and material handling practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of construction processes, material specifications, and project scheduling.
