Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Lead Python Developer to drive backend architecture for AI-driven projects. You will collaborate with a skilled team to build scalable microservices, leverage LangChain-based tooling, and implement robust security and observability across cloud-native APIs.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in backend engineering, leadership experience, and hands-on Generative AI expertise, with strong Python skills and experience in AWS, Docker, and REST APIs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with microservices and distributed systems design
• 1+ year of guiding and managing engineering teams
• Strong Python background for high-performance backend and cloud-native API solutions
• Hands-on background with Generative AI applications
• Experience with LangChain for language-model-driven apps
• Working knowledge of AWS, Docker, ECS/EKS, and RESTful APIs
• Secure development practices with strong authentication/authorization
• English communication at B2 level or higher

Responsibilities

• Shape backend API architecture to support large language models connectivity
• Develop RAG pipelines including document handling, embeddings, and retrieval improvements
• Link agent-based tools using LangChain/LangGraph and MCP
• Maintain security, data privacy, observability, and backend testing
• Contribute to architectural decisions and establish technical standards
• Coordinate with frontend, data engineering, and infrastructure teams
