Job summary

Proofpoint is looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join our Machine Learning team. You will build and maintain backend services, APIs, and internal tools that support our email threat detection engine.

You will work closely with senior engineers and data scientists, contribute to real products from day one, and grow your skills in a fast-paced, high-impact environment at Cordoba, Argentina. This role emphasizes writing clean, tested code, collaborating across teams, and learning AWS

Qualifications

• 1+ year of Python experience.
• Familiarity with core software engineering concepts: data structures, algorithms, REST APIs, and Git.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and working with structured data.
• Familiarity with AWS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and internal tools that support the team's workflows
• Write clean, well-tested, and documented code
• Contribute to data processing utilities and automation scripts
• Debug and resolve issues in existing systems
• Participate in code reviews and apply feedback from senior engineers
• Collaborate with engineers and data scientists to understand requirements and deliver reliable software
• Support service deployment and monitoring in AWS
