Total Number of Openings 1 The Team Leader for the GBS BA Global Exploration & Major Capital Projects (MCPs) Support Team is responsible for leading a Buenos Aires–based team that provides end-to-end finance and accounting support for Chevron's Global Exploration business and for Major Capital Projects in the Gulf of America (GOA) and Nigeria/Mid-Africa (NMA), as well as ALNG finance support. The role works as an extension of the Exploration Business Performance & Finance (BPF) and TP&E BPF organizations, and in close partnership with Country Managers, Regional Advisors, CEPS, BPF teams, FR&A, GBS BA/Manila JVA, and external auditors and government agencies (e.g., PwC, BDO, Staatsolie, ANCAP). The role strengthens decision-making across the Exploration value chain by delivering high-quality financial insights, ensuring robust internal controls, driving process standardization across jurisdictions, and enabling consistent execution of monthly close, statutory reporting, JV accounting, partner audits, and MCP cost management activities.

1. Operational Leadership & Process Ownership

Lead the Global Exploration & MCPs Support team, overseeing the execution of monthly close, accruals, JV accounting, cost recovery, JIB, and cash calls across multiple jurisdictions including Suriname, Greece, Egypt, Namibia, Uruguay, Guinea-Bissau, Colombia, Peru, Libya, and GOA/NMA MCPs. Ensure timely and accurate execution of monthly deliverables from WD-1 through WD-15, including EASE variance reporting, MCP accruals calculations and booking, cash calls, and monthly Outlook submissions, as well as variance analysis. Coordinate quarterly and annual statutory deliverables (Statutory financial statements, Cost Recovery audits, JV Audits, Cost recovery reports, Local content data, Discrete items, Restricted Assets, Suspended Wells, Section 1504 Dodd-Frank, Annual Petroleum Operations Reports) with Corporate Controllers and local country teams. Lead cost recovery improvement efforts for the Exploration business.

2. Financial Analysis & Business Support

Serve as a trusted finance partner to Exploration BPF, Country Managers, and MCP leadership, translating financial results into clear insights for performance management, forecasting, and decision-making. Support the Exploration Business Plan (BP) cycle, Outlook (X+Y) submissions to FR&A, EASE, and eXplore Tracker updates, ensuring alignment with Global Exploration guidance. Oversee monthly MCP support activities for Anchor, Whale, Tahiti Diamond, and JSM, including cash calls, accrual calculation and booking, and supporting documentation to CEPS and GOM Accruals. NMA VOWD support, actuals monitoring, variance analysis, AFEs creation and closure, etc.

3. Controls, Governance & Audit Readiness

Own execution and evidencing of SOX Control 02.4.2 (Open POs & SOs Review – GOA MCPs) and SOX Control 13.4.5 (Balance Sheet / P&L variance review) across the team's scope. Ensure a strong, SOX-compliant control environment with zero compliance violations, and coordinate remediation of audit findings. Lead coordination with external auditors and partner audits (e.g., Staatsolie Cost Recovery, ANCAP, QatarEnergy), ensuring consistent narratives and alignment across Chevron stakeholders before findings are escalated to senior management.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Act as the primary liaison between the GBS BA support team and Exploration BPF, TP&E, Country Managers, CEPS, GOM Finance, FR&A, GBS BA/Manila JVA & Intercompany, Property Accounting, and Controllers. Represent the team in JOA/OCM partner meetings, and enterprise finance updates if required. Ensure alignment on external-facing narratives with partners and auditors, particularly on audit findings, cost recovery submissions, and PSC/JOA compliance topics.

5. Team Leadership & Capability Development

Provide day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and performance coaching to a distributed team of analysts covering Global Exploration countries and MCPs. Mentor and develop the Buenos Aires Exploration BPF team through coaching, capability building and review of key deliverables, while ensuring effective knowledge transfer, succession planning and continuity of critical expertise during personnel transitions Manage onboarding of new countries/blocks into the support scope (e.g., recent transitions of Guinea-Bissau, Suriname, Libya, Greece country ownership within the team). Build a culture of operational discipline, continuous improvement, collaboration, and analytical excellence, empowering team members to challenge existing processes as they mature into their scope.

6. Continuous Improvement, Digital Enablement & Transitions

Identify and implement opportunities to standardize processes across countries, eliminate rework, and leverage digital tools. Drive transitions of country support ownership across analysts and coordinate handovers when team composition or leadership changes.

Success Measures

Timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables across all in-scope countries and MCPs. Strong audit outcomes and sustained SOX compliance. Successful onboarding of new countries and stable handovers of country ownership within the team. Reliable Business Plan and Outlook submissions aligned with Exploration BPF guidance. Trusted partnership with Country Managers, BPF, and MCP finance stakeholders. Measurable improvements in process efficiency and reduced rework across jurisdictions.

Key Competencies

Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills across a geographically distributed team. Deep knowledge of Upstream finance, JV accounting, PSC/JOA mechanics, cost recovery, and statutory reporting in multiple jurisdictions. Ability to simplify complex financial topics into business-ready insights for senior management and external partners. Operational discipline, attention to detail, and a continuous improvement mindset. Ability to work effectively across geographies, time zones, and functional boundaries.
