Job summary

Bechtel Argentina seeks an Environmental Permits Specialist to oversee obtaining, maintaining and monitoring environmental permits required for project execution. You will translate regulatory requirements into design criteria, foresee environmental constraints on layout and sequencing, and ensure alignment with project schedules and client standards.

Qualifications

• Requires a university degree in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Natural Resources, Geological Sciences or Biological Sciences, with professional registration in the corresponding jurisdiction, between 5 and 8 years of professional practice in environmental management and permits, with at least 3 years in mining, energy or infrastructure projects in Argentina.
• A graduate degree, major or diploma in environmental management, environmental impact assessment or environmental law is desirable.
• Level 2: Requires a university degree... between 8 and 10 years of professional practice in environmental management and permits, with at least 5 years in mining, energy or infrastructure projects in Argentina.

Responsibilities

• Manage the permits matrix, identifying competent body, submission requirements, deadlines and actual processing timelines.
• Prepare, review and submit the Environmental Impact Report and biennial updates with supporting documentation for the provincial mining authority.
• Manage associated sectoral permits: water use, effluent dumping, emissions, hazardous waste, soil movement, native vegetation, and transport of hazardous substances.
• Maintain dialogue with provincial and national enforcement authorities, respond to observations and audits.
• Alert on critical permits and propose sequencing alternatives when deadlines threaten the schedule.

Education
