The Moody's Local Relationship Manager focuses on expanding and developing new business relationships within Argentina and Uruguay, working autonomously with moderate supervision by the General Manager.
What will the Relationship Manager do?
- Expand the customer base and manage key existing accounts.
- Proactively handle a portfolio of existing and prospective accounts, as well as intermediaries, in the Argentine and Uruguayan domestic markets.
- Plan, strategize, and execute outreach in-person, calling on every key account.
- Ensure the opportunity to bid for close to 100% of all domestic transactions, and generate leads for domestic markets.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and renewals.
- Deliver and deploy a strategic business‑development plan to grow new mandates/business in Argentina and Uruguay.
- Spend approximately 60% of time on the road, meeting customers.
- Support the General Manager with business‑development responsibilities and delivery of a strategic plan for new mandates.
- Contribute to the design, implementation, and improvement of business‑development and customer outreach strategies for the territory.
- Conduct meetings with customers, prospective customers, investors, and intermediaries as needed.
- Support the Moody's Events team in identifying key visibility opportunities for the franchise.
- Represent the RM team in line‑of‑business meetings where applicable.
- Provide effective guidance to supporting associates.
- Provide support to other sub‑regions.
- Maintain active relationships with issuers at all levels independently with minimal oversight.
- Effectively prepare and conduct several daily telephone conversations or in‑person meetings with issuers at all levels.
- Hold 60‑minute in‑person meetings with a group treasurer or CFO of issuers in a smaller, less complex sub‑region and/or line of business.
- Articulate and explain Moody’s value proposition.
- Negotiate and defend pricing, contracts, and renewals; draft tender documents when applicable.
- Possess in‑depth understanding of players, main financial instruments, and dynamics of capital and credit markets in the territory.
- Read financial statements to identify financial needs and understand each firm’s financial strategy.
- Have excellent understanding of Moody’s service suite, contracts, and general conduct of business.
- Understand the concept of full ownership of customers and targets.
- Switch easily from account management to business‑development activities.
- Perform with high autonomy in achieving business objectives.
- Be fully proficient in Moody’s product suite.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree preferably in finance, accounting, business, or economics.
- Master’s degree or MBA desirable.
- Solid years of experience in the financial services industry required.
- Previous experience in sales & marketing desired.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation and influencing skills.
- Solid knowledge of domestic capital markets (Argentina & Uruguay).
- Availability to travel within Argentina and Uruguay.
- Five or more years of relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in English.
