Tether is hiring a Mobile Engineer to help build Keet Mobile on iOS and Android using React Native and Expo. You will own features end-to-end from UI/UX implementation to leveraging the P2P core APIs in a globally remote team.

The role requires strong React Native experience, familiarity with native platforms, and a passion for peer-to-peer technologies, with opportunities to influence performance and product decisions at scale.

About the job

We have launched Keet Mobile on iOS and Android, bringing our full P2P technology stack to everyone. Keet Mobile is not your average app: it’s heavy lifting is performed by a custom JS runtime specially designed for peer-to-peer usage (in fact, it reuses 100% of Keet Desktop’s code!). The UI logic, on the other hand, is 100% React Native, giving us flexibility and the ability to iterate quickly.

We believe this pattern opens the door to huge possibilities in the future, and we need your help getting there!

Responsibilities

In this role, you will develop and maintain Keet Mobile, our peer-to-peer chat and calling app for iOS and Android. Keet Mobile is built with React Native and Expo, and its P2P core runs on the device itself in a Bare worklet. You'll own features end to end, from UI/UX implementation to using the P2P core apis.

• Build and polish features across chat, voice and video calls, media sharing, device pairing and identity backup
• Integrate native platform capabilities such as push notifications, camera, bio-metrics and background tasks on both iOS and Android
• Profile and optimise performance on real devices, including startup time, long chats, media handling, battery and network use
• Write unit and end-to-end tests, and help keep releases stable through CI and crash reporting
• Work closely with the core P2P, design and product teams, and review code with a high bar for quality

Significant experience with React Native, Redux for state management and Redux-Saga

Experienced with WebSockets, RESTful based APIs.

Knowledge in native languages (Swift/Kotlin) and familiarity with native build tools (Xcode/Android Studio) is advantageous.

Experience working with a remote team

Interested in modernizing and optimizing different mobile or web applications.

Bonus points if you have any built something amazing on any p2p frameworks .

Important information for candidates

Responsibilities

Delivery of complex software features and components with high quality and minimal supervision.

• Allocate effort across development, bug fixing, refactoring, and technical improvements.
• Take ownership of assigned technical tasks from design through implementation and support.
• Balance feature delivery with technical debt reduction and code quality improvements.
• Contribute to sprint planning by estimating, sizing, and committing to work items.
• Prioritize work to meet sprint goals, release timelines, and production stability.
• Support production issues and participate in root cause analysis when required.
• Leverage and advocate within SCRUM development team use of AI advances such as Github Copilot to accelerate delivery of value to the business.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

Required Qualifications

• C#/.NET (Framework and .NET Core/.NET 8+) with 5+ years of experience.
• Typescript and frontend frameworks (Angular and/or React) with 3+ years of experience.
• Relational Databases (SQL, DML, DDL, data modeling) at least 2 years
• Cloud Platforms (Azure, CI/CD) at least 2 years
• REST APIs (building & consuming) at least 3 years
• Software Design Principles (clean code, refactoring, debugging) at least 3 years

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python
• Experience with ansible
• Experience with NoSQL databases
• Experience with automated testing (unit and integration)
• Expertise with Azure cloud services, including App Services, Azure Functions, API Management, Service Bus, Event Grid, Key Vault, Storage, and Application Insights.
• Experience integrating Generative AI, LLM, Azure OpenAI, or AI-enabled engineering solutions into enterprise applications.
• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), containerization (Docker), and cloud-native architectures.
