Job summary

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a Wet Utility Inspector to join our Abu Dhabi team, supporting construction supervision of major transportation, roads, utilities, and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will inspect wet utility works, monitor site construction activities, and ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, authority requirements, and quality standards throughout project delivery.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Wet Utility Inspector on roads, transportation, utilities and infrastructure projects.
• Consultancy supervision experience is essential.
• Familiarity with Abu Dhabi and UAE authority standards and utility specifications.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction documents.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect wet utility works including water transmission and distribution networks, sewerage systems, stormwater drainage networks, irrigation systems and associated infrastructure.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications and authority requirements.
• Review contractor inspection requests, method statements, shop drawings and material approvals.
• Verify that installed wet utility works meet quality standards and approved construction methodologies.
• Witness testing, commissioning, and handover activities.
• Coordinate with Resident Engineers, Site Engineers, contractors, authorities and project stakeholders.
• Identify non-conforming works and assist in implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain inspection records and prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements on site.
• Monitor project progress and report construction issues affecting quality or schedule.
• Support project teams in achieving quality, safety and project delivery objectives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting wet utility works, monitoring site construction activities, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, authority requirements, and quality standards throughout project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Inspect wet utility works including water transmission and distribution networks, sewerage systems, stormwater drainage networks, irrigation systems, and associated infrastructure.
• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, and authority requirements.
• Conduct inspections for pipelines, manholes, chambers, valve installations, pumping stations, and utility crossings.
• Review contractor inspection requests, method statements, shop drawings, and material approvals.
• Verify that installed wet utility works meet quality standards and approved construction methodologies.
• Witness pressure testing, leakage testing, pipeline testing, flushing, commissioning, and related activities.
• Coordinate with Resident Engineers, Site Engineers, contractors, authorities, and project stakeholders.
• Identify non-conforming works and assist in implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain inspection records and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements on site.

• Familiarity with Abu Dhabi and UAE authority standards and utility specifications.
• Experience witnessing testing, commissioning, and handover activities for wet utility networks.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience on major infrastructure and transportation projects within Abu Dhabi or the UAE is preferred.
• Consultancy-side supervision experience is essential.
