Job summary

Major Oil & Gas company in Abu Dhabi is seeking an experienced Welding Engineer with strong expertise in welding processes, materials, and procedures for fabrication and construction in Oil & Gas projects.

The successful candidate will review and qualify welding procedures, assess material weldability (including CRA), and provide technical guidance to ensure compliance with ASME, ASTM, API and BS/EN/ISO codes in pressure vessels, piping and tanks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of total experience in welding-related activities within an Oil & Gas project environment.
• Experience in Oil & Gas facility construction, including pressure vessels, piping/pipeline fabrication and tanks.
• Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, API, BS / EN / ISO).
• Fluent English language skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a project/construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review and support the qualification of Welding Procedures (WPS/PQR).
• Provide technical expertise on various welding processes and materials.
• Assess the weldability of materials, including Corrosion Resistant Alloys (CRA).
• Support the selection of appropriate welding consumables.
• Conduct and support weld-related failure analysis.
• Review welding activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes and standards.
• Provide technical guidance on welding and fabrication methods within Oil & Gas projects.
• Ensure welding activities comply with applicable international codes and standards.
• Coordinate with construction, QA/QC and other technical teams on welding-related matters.

Our client, a major Oil & Gas company in Abu Dhabi, is looking for an experienced Welding Engineer with strong technical expertise in welding processes, materials, welding procedures and Oil & Gas fabrication/construction activities.

The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in an Oil & Gas project environment, with sound knowledge of international welding codes and standards and the ability to prepare, review and qualify welding procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, review and support the qualification of Welding Procedures (WPS/PQR).

• Provide technical expertise on various welding processes and materials.

• Assess the weldability of materials, including Corrosion Resistant Alloys (CRA).

• Support the selection of appropriate welding consumables.

• Conduct and support weld-related failure analysis.

Education & Professional Qualifications

Preferred:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering

• Master's Degree in Welding

Alternatively:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering with a professional certification in Welding Engineering, such as:

• IWE – International Welding Engineer

• CWE – Certified Welding Engineer

• Or another acceptable equivalent approved by the Company.

Certification Requirements

• ASNT Level II certification in:

• RT – Radiographic Testing

• UT – Ultrasonic Testing

• MT – Magnetic Testing

• PT – Penetrant Testing

Experience

• Minimum 12 years of total experience in welding-related activities within an Oil & Gas project environment.

• Experience in Oil & Gas facility construction, including pressure vessels, piping/pipeline fabrication and tanks, is required.
