Job summary

Dynamic Staffing Services seeks an experienced Welding Engineer for its UAE operations to oversee welding and maintenance in a power plant environment with a preference for nuclear welding experience.

The role requires developing welding procedures, preparing PQRs/WPSs, interfacing with ASME Section XI programs, and ensuring compliance with ASME and AWS codes. CSWIP/AWS certification is mandatory, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of maintenance experience in an operational power plant.
  • Experience in Nuclear, Thermal, Combined Cycle, or similar power plants.
  • CSWIP / AWS Welding Certification is required.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME and AWS codes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee plant welding and maintenance activities, including detailed reviews of Work Packages, JHA, FME, and Permit requirements.
  • Identify welding requirements, including procedures, welder qualifications, filler metals, post-weld heat treatment, and other requirements to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Develop welding procedures for repairs and installations and evaluate their suitability to prevent repeat failures.
  • Interface with plant programs including the ASME Section XI Repair & Replacement Program, NDE Program, Work Control Program, and Quality Program.
  • Develop new Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs), including procurement of weld coupons and consumables, preparation of preliminary WPS, conducting PQR welding, coordination with procurement/laboratories for mechanical testing, and preparation of final PQR documentation.
  • Coordinate the development of PQRs and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPSs) with plant welding personnel to meet applicable code requirements.
  • Manage and coordinate Welder Performance Qualification Testing.
  • Control and maintain welding program documents, procedures, and related records.
  • Maintain welding program software and provide guidance in resolving discrepancies, implementation issues, non-conformances, code requirement issues, and regulatory matters.

Preferred candidate profile
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of maintenance experience in an operational power plant environment.
  • Experience in Nuclear, Thermal, Combined Cycle, or similar power plants is required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage/direct a team.
  • CSWIP / AWS Welding Certification is required.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME and AWS codes and standards.
