Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform welding and cutting activities using electric, gas, and inert gas welding and cutting processes using various types of materials such as mild steel, aluminium, stainless steel and other non‑ferrous metals as defined on the engineering specification.
  • Work with light, heavy gauge and hardened metals, welding the various types of items assigned using Flat, Vertical, Horizontal and Overhead positions.
  • Execute a variety ofs and cuts from simple to precision and recommend alternative methods when design characteristics cannot be met by the proposed fabrication/manufacturing processes.
  • Perform the necessary welding work layout, plan the operation sequence, setup the parameter and operate specialised welding equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams and schematics in order to accomplish sheet metal forms according to part specifications.
  • Comply with all safety, housekeeping and environmental directives.
  • Maintain equipment by completing user preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure all issued tools, uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is accounted for, maintained and secured.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of all company information.
  • Support other members of the Fabrication Workshop in fulfilling their roles.
  • Perform other duties as required by their line manager and the Manager, Fabrication.
Experience and Education
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience performing welding, cutting and/or fabrication is required.
  • Previous military experience or welding training is an advantage.
  • The ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings/schematics is required.
  • Previous experience using MIG, TIG, and Plasma welding and cutting equipment is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and SAP is preferred.
  • The ability to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally is required.
