Job Summary

The Web Printer is responsible for independently setting up and operating Harris web offset printing machines to deliver high-volume print output with consistent quality and efficiency. This role requires strong technical expertise in web printing processes, ensuring precise alignment, color consistency, and adherence to production specifications. The position plays a critical role in maintaining uninterrupted production flow while upholding safety, quality, and operational standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Independently set up and operate Harris web offset commercial printing machines in accordance with job specifications and production requirements

• Configure feeder systems, reel stands, web tension, reel stagger, and registration settings to achieve optimal machine performance

• Interpret job sheets and technical instructions to ensure accurate execution of print jobs

• Monitor print output continuously to maintain consistency in color density, registration, and paper alignment throughout the production run

• Adjust ink flow, web tension, and machine parameters proactively to prevent defects, wastage, or rework

• Maintain proper ink-water balance during production by continuously monitoring dampening systems and fine-tuning settings

• Identify and resolve common printing issues such as scumming, toning, ghosting, or emulsification to ensure print clarity and color fidelity

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks including roller cleaning, blanket replacement, lubrication, and inspection of mechanical components

• Maintain detailed maintenance logs and report any abnormalities or equipment issues to the technical or maintenance team

• Ensure adherence to safety standards, operational procedures, and quality control guidelines at all times

• Coordinate with prepress, finishing, and production teams to ensure seamless workflow and timely job completion

• Minimize material wastage by optimizing machine settings and maintaining process efficiency

• Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping of the machine and work area

• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity and print quality

Mandatory Requirements

• Diploma in Printing Technology or equivalent qualification

• Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience in web offset printing

• Proven experience in operating Harris web offset printing machines

• Strong understanding of web printing processes, ink systems, and color management

• Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and troubleshooting techniques
