Role Context
The Water Quality Technician supports daily aquatic operations by keeping pools, water features and surrounding areas clean, safe and ready for use. The role combines routine pool care with water testing, safety inspections and basic checks of supporting plumbing and lighting systems. Consistent attention to water condition, cleanliness and facility presentation helps maintain guest confidence and supports uninterrupted operation of resort aquatic areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare swimming pools for recreational use and scheduled activities.
- Unlock designated pool areas and remove pool covers when required.
- Carry out routine pool cleaning including vacuuming and surface maintenance.
- Wash pool decks and surrounding areas to maintain a clean and presentable environment.
- Flush gutters and assist with maintaining proper drainage around pool areas.
- Scrub and disinfect pool surfaces and designated wet areas.
- Clean and polish metalwork, fittings and pool accessories.
- Remove debris from pools, decks and nearby guest areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of mechanical rooms associated with aquatic operations.
- Keep storage rooms, electrical rooms and boiler rooms orderly and free from unnecessary hazards.
- Inspect pool surroundings to confirm they remain safe for guest use.
- Carry out daily safety inspections and report concerns promptly.
- Check visible plumbing systems for leaks, damage or abnormal operation.
- Inspect lighting associated with pool and water feature areas and report defects.
- Conduct routine water analysis according to established procedures.
- Record water quality readings accurately and elevate abnormal results.
- Support corrective action when water conditions fall outside required operating limits.
- Maintain tools and pool maintenance equipment in clean and usable condition.
- Follow safe chemical handling and operational procedures where applicable.
- Support preparation of water features and aquatic areas before opening.
- Assist with closing activities and ensure facilities are left in suitable condition for subsequent operation.
- Communicate maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors without delay.
- Support colleagues during high-demand periods or operational changes.
- Work flexible day or night shifts according to resort requirements.
- Carry out additional water quality duties assigned by supervisors.
Ideal Profile
- Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- Previous experience within a five-star hotel environment is preferred.
- Water theme park experience is advantageous.
- Facilities Management Services experience is also desirable.
- Practical understanding of basic pool cleaning and maintenance activities.
- Ability to perform routine water analysis and record results accurately.
- Awareness of pool safety and guest-area inspection requirements.
- Able to identify visible plumbing or lighting defects and report them correctly.
- Strong English communication skills.
- Comfortable working in outdoor and wet operating environments.
- Able to swim confidently.
- Willing to work flexible schedules including day and night shifts.
- Certified Pool Operator qualification is desirable.
- Candidates must be willing to obtain Certified Pool Operator status within the probationary period if required.
