Role Description
A Warehouse Worker is responsible for receiving, handling, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching goods and materials to ensure efficient, accurate, and safe warehouse operations. The role supports daily warehouse activities while maintaining proper inventory control, product quality, workplace safety, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, inspect, and verify incoming goods, materials, and supplies.
- Check delivered items against purchase orders, delivery documents, and inventory records.
- Store products and materials in designated locations according to warehouse procedures.
- Pick, pack, label, and prepare orders accurately for delivery or collection.
- Load and unload goods safely using appropriate handling equipment and tools.
- Move, arrange, and organize stock within the warehouse to maximize space and accessibility.
- Conduct regular stock counts and assist with inventory checks and reconciliation.
- Update inventory records and report discrepancies, damaged goods, missing items, or incorrect quantities.
- Ensure products are stored under appropriate conditions and handled carefully to prevent damage or loss.
- Maintain proper identification, labeling, and organization of warehouse items.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, trolleys, or other material-handling equipment where authorized and trained.
- Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping to maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Follow proper procedures for handling fragile, heavy, hazardous, or temperature-sensitive materials where applicable.
- Prepare goods and documentation for shipment, delivery, or internal distribution.
- Assist with returns, exchanges, damaged goods, and stock transfers as required.
- Coordinate with purchasing, logistics, delivery, production, sales, and other departments to support smooth operations.
- Ensure proper use, storage, and maintenance of warehouse equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Follow company procedures relating to inventory control, security, workplace safety, and loss prevention.
- Report safety hazards, equipment defects, damaged products, and operational issues to supervisors promptly.
- Maintain accurate warehouse records, checklists, and other required documentation.
- Support warehouse audits, stocktaking activities, process improvements, and other operational projects.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, productivity, cleanliness, safety, and workplace discipline.
Qualifications
- Minimum secondary school education or equivalent.
- Previous experience in warehouse, logistics, inventory, distribution, or related operations is an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of warehouse procedures, inventory control, and material handling.
- Ability to lift, carry, move, and arrange goods safely as required.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual work for extended periods.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts or pallet jacks is an advantage.
- Valid forklift license or certification is an advantage where applicable.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer and inventory-system skills are an advantage.
- Ability to read and understand labels, delivery documents, stock records, and work instructions.
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
