Job description

Reporting to the SVP – Commercial, the VP – Business Development is responsible for driving the growth of GANS by identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities in line with the company’s strategic objectives. This role focuses on market expansion, strategic partnerships, and long‑term revenue generation by pursuing new clients, contracts, and verticals across targeted geographies.

The VP will support the execution of the overall commercial strategy by proactively seeking out new markets, establishing a strong sales pipeline, and leading end‑to‑end business development initiatives to convert opportunities into sustainable revenue streams. The role requires a deep understanding of market dynamics, customer needs, and competitive positioning.

Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Business Development
  • Support the SVP – Commercial in executing the company’s growth strategy by identifying, evaluating, and pursuing new business opportunities across domestic and international markets.
  • Conduct in-depth market research to identify trends, threats, and opportunities within the aviation and air navigation sectors.
  • Assess potential client segments and geographies to prioritize market entry and expansion.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous refinement of business development strategies and processes.
End-to-End Sales Ownership
  • Lead the full sales lifecycle for new business opportunities, including prospecting, presenting, negotiating, and closing deals.
  • Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified leads to achieve business growth targets.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders (legal, finance, operations, technical) to structure compelling commercial proposals and contracts.
Relationship Building & Partnerships
  • Build and maintain strong external relationships with aviation authorities, airlines, government agencies, and industry partners.
  • Support the establishment of strategic alliances and partnerships that enhance the company’s market position and service offerings.
Market Penetration & Competitive Intelligence
  • Analyze competitive landscape and provide insights to inform go‑to‑market strategies.
  • Monitor emerging trends, regulatory changes, and customer needs to inform new business initiatives.
Marketing Collaboration
  • Work with the marketing team to ensure business development efforts are supported with relevant campaigns, market messaging, and outreach strategies.
  • Represent GANS at industry events, conferences, and forums to enhance visibility and generate new leads.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
  • Track and report on business development KPIs and sales performance metrics.
  • Provide regular updates to the SVP – Commercial on pipeline status, market insights, and revenue forecasts.
Educational Qualification

Bachelors / Masters Degree in business administration, economics, marketing or engineering. An advanced degree (Master’s Degree) in business administration (preferred)

Experience
  • Minimum of ten 8‑10 years commercial management experience (5 of which should have been in a similar role in the Aviation industry
  • 5‑years of experience working in senior management roles.
  • 10‑15 years’ Experience in private or international organizations related to the aviation industry such as related air navigation service providers
  • Extensive sales, marketing and consultancy experience in the ANS or wider Aviation industry
  • Extensive experience of latest trends and technological disruptions within the Air Navigation industry
Special Technical Skills
  • Proficient verbal and written skills in English (Arabic – will be anadded advantage)
