Commercial Insurance, Middle East is looking for Underwriting Assistant in the Energy team supporting day-to-day underwriting operations and the growth of the portfolio.

Job Accountabilities

As Underwriting Assistant in our Energy line of business, your role will involve:

  • Assist Underwriters in reviewing insurance applications, verifying data accuracy, and assessing risk factors.
  • Prepare and process insurance policies, endorsements and renewals, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established guidelines.
  • Maintain an activity log that would enable the tracking of account statuses, providing timely updates that is critical for monthly management reports.
  • Collaborate with Underwriters analyse the quality and quantity of risks associated with underwritten policies.
  • Prepare detailed reports to assist in the decision-making process and assess loss potential, making recommendations for appropriate coverage and premium rates.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date underwriting records, including policy documentation, endorsements and related correspondence.
  • Communicate with agents, brokers and internal stakeholders to obtain missing information, clarify policy details and address inquiries or concerns.
  • Assist in the preparation of underwriting reports, summaries, and presentations to support decision-making and provide insights on underwriting performance.
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, policy changes, and market conditions that may impact underwriting decisions and processes.
  • Provide administrative support to the underwriting team, including data entry, file management, and document preparation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as claims and finance, to ensure smooth and efficient underwriting processes.
Job Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field is preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Knowledge of Insurance principles, policies and industry practices is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills, with ability to review and evaluate complex information accurately and efficiently.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a focus on data accuracy and quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and software applications, including MS Office suite and Underwriting software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proactive and willing to learn, with a strong work ethic and a commitment to continuous improvement.
