Job summary

American Hospital Dubai is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform high-quality ultrasound examinations and support departmental programs. You will instruct patients, calibrate equipment, and coordinate with radiologists to meet urgent cases while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires strong English communication, knowledge of anatomy and safety procedures, and participation in ongoing professional development within the Medical Imaging Department.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of radiation protection and safety.
  • Knowledge of JCIA or accreditation standards.
  • Knowledge of Middle East culture and customs.
  • Ability to communicate well with patients and staff in English.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all requested ultrasound examinations following department guidelines.
  • Instruct and position patients; select techniques and calibrate equipment.
  • Schedule and prioritize ultrasound examinations with radiologist guidance.
  • Support quality improvement and education programs in Medical Imaging.
  • Participate in staff meetings and unit projects; assist with audits and incidents.
  • Maintain equipment safety, clean rooms, check stocks and perform safety checks.

Performs all requested Ultrasound examinations by the American Hospital Dubai and Medical Imaging Departmental guidelines Performs Ultrasound procedures which include instructing and manipulating patients selecting techniques and calibrating equipment to obtain high-quality images Schedules patients for Ultrasound examinations if required Evaluate the nature of critical and emergency procedures and arrange patient priorities to accommodate them in conjunction with Radiologist instructions Assists the Technical Director of the Medical Imaging Department with the coordination of the Departmental Quality Improvement and Education Programs Participates in staff meetings and unit projects and implements evaluates creative approaches to meeting goals Performs additional duties as specified by the immediate Team Leader Performs and monitors safety checks on patients employees and visitors to comply with the safety regulations in the Ultrasound speciality Include duties that can be performed independently i POCT for clinical staff Include duties that must be performed under supervision and clearly define which supervision i Assists with follow-up of Incidents Accidents and Patient Complaints as directed by the Chief Of Medical Imaging and Technical Director Maintains professional growth and development through seminars workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in the field of expertise Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned Reviews the request and previous studies before performing the examination Cleans stocks and check the operation of equipment and accessory devices for safety daily in rostered areas Clean and tidy rooms at the end of all shifts Works closely with the radiologists to cater for all procedural needs and requirements Observes all safety measures in the specialized areas i e g Ultrasound safety screening form i Performs any additional duties as required administration duties assist with filing clerical and scheduling wherever possible as required by the Technical Director Assists the Technical Director of the Medical Imaging Department with the coordination of the Departmental Quality Improvement and Education Programs Participates in staff meetings and unit projects and implements evaluates creative approaches to meeting goals

Job Skills
  • Minimum of two 2 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist
  • Knowledge of human anatomy human physiology pathology pharmacology and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of radiation magnetic protection and safety
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission International Accreditation JCIA or accreditation standards
  • Knowledge of Middle East Culture and Customs
  • Ability to remain sensitive to the needs of the patient through good communication
