Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process clinical specimens for biomedical testing, ensuring accuracy and quality at every step.
  • Liaise with a multi‑disciplinary team, highlighting urgent results and supporting the pathology team to meet departmental targets.
  • Maintain clinical records using a range of IT systems and manage enquiries efficiently.
  • Dispose of clinical and sensitive samples and chemical waste safely, following all regulatory and safety guidelines.
  • Uphold technical standards, policies, and procedures, escalating concerns as needed.
  • Implement evidence‑based laboratory techniques and support continuous improvement in laboratory practices.
  • Participate in staff training and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Education: Diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences (minimum 2 years’ course duration) from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in a similar laboratory role.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in areas such as ECG, Spirometry, Post‑Natal Clinics, Long Term Condition Clinics, Hypertension Monitoring, Venepuncture, Cannulation, Blood Sugar Monitoring, Blood Disposal, and handling infectious/hazardous substances.
  • Behavioural Competencies: Strong analytical, communication, and decision‑making skills; attention to detail; teamwork; time management; customer service orientation.
