Job summary

Nabors in Dubai seeks a Maintenance Technician to operate company equipment on client rigs, delivering safe, timely maintenance and service. You will perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on TRS equipment, including power tongs, JAM systems, hydraulic units, elevators, and related accessories, ensuring readiness before mobilization.

Inspect, test, repair, and preserve TRS gear at workshops or on site; troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic faults;

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in oil and gas industry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on TRS equipment, including power tongs, manual tongs, Torque Turn/JAM systems, Casing Drive Systems, hydraulic power units, spiders, elevators, handling tools, and associated accessories.
  • Inspect, test, service, repair, clean, and preserve TRS equipment at the workshop or designated maintenance facility.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic faults and complete the required repairs promptly.
  • Conduct post-job inspections on returned equipment and identify any damage, wear, missing components, or maintenance requirements.
  • Perform workshop function tests after maintenance to confirm that equipment is safe, fully operational, and ready for release.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot Torque Turn/JAM equipment, including calibration checks, cable repairs, sensors, communication systems, and associated components.
  • Inspect hydraulic hoses, fittings, pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, gauges, control panels, safety devices, interlocks, and electrical connections.
  • Inspect power tongs, backup tongs, dies, jaws, rollers, gears, bearings, brake bands, and other mechanical components for wear or damage.
  • Ensure elevators, spiders, handling tools, and lifting accessories are properly maintained and have valid inspection and certification records.
  • Complete assigned preventive maintenance work orders according to the approved schedule, OEM recommendations, and company procedures.
  • Verify equipment readiness before mobilization and ensure all required components, accessories, certificates, and spare parts are available.
  • Identify, tag, and quarantine defective or nonconforming equipment until the required repair, inspection, or certification is completed.
  • Record all inspections, maintenance activities, replaced parts, test results, equipment defects, and corrective actions in the applicable maintenance system.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of TRS equipment, tools, spare parts, and consumables within the workshop.
  • Monitor critical spare part availability and report shortages that could affect equipment readiness.
  • Report recurring failures, equipment nonconformities, and reliability concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor and support technical investigations.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering, QA/QC, Supply Chain, and Operations teams regarding repairs, certifications, spare parts, and equipment readiness.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping, tool control, and safe storage of equipment, spare parts, chemicals, and consumables within the workshop.
  • Guide and support junior technicians during inspection, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Act as the maintenance lead when assigned or when the Maintenance Supervisor is unavailable.
  • Participate in workshop safety meetings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, Near Miss reporting, Incident reporting, Stop Card programs, and other QHSE initiatives.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies, maintenance procedures, OEM requirements, quality objectives, and applicable QHSE standards.
  • Take accountability for the quality, accuracy, and timely completion of assigned maintenance activities and report any risks affecting safety, quality, compliance, equipment reliability, or customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other maintenance related duties as assigned.
