Job description

Atkins has been established in the Gulf for over 40 years, with regional operations starting in 1967 and the Dubai head office established in 1979.

We offer a comprehensive range of design, engineering, and project management services across buildings, transportation, and infrastructure projects.

Currently, Atkins in the Middle East employs around 2,000 staff serving Gulf clients from offices in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait City, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, and Sharjah, with major infrastructure projects in Qatar.

We are seeking a qualified Transport Planner/Modeler with 3-5 years of experience to join our Strategic Transport Business. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in planning or transportation, preferably with a Master’s in a related field, and possess strong knowledge of transport planning and modeling software such as VISUM, VISSIM, and SATURN.

This role involves leading transport planning studies, including large-scale master plans and traffic impact assessments, working closely with project managers and planning teams to ensure timely delivery of analyses, reports, and plans.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Completing assigned tasks efficiently.
  2. Adhering to Atkins Quality Manual and Procedures.
  3. Coordinating with other design disciplines.

Qualifications and competencies required:

  • Degree in planning or transportation with over three years of professional experience.
  • Understanding of transportation planning, public transport issues, and demand theory.
  • Experience with junction analysis and traffic impact assessments.
  • Familiarity with local trends and standards in the Middle East.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transport modeling software.
  • Effective communication skills in English; Arabic language skills are a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to business growth.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.

Additional skills include experience with VISSIM, SIDRA, SYNCHRO, HCM, and Excel, as well as strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
