Job summary

BYD Company Limited is seeking a Technical Support Engineer in Abu Dhabi to support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The role requires hands-on MV system experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety on site.

You will perform on-site installation of BESS components, conduct commissioning and testing to COD readiness, diagnose faults across electrical and control systems, and maintain detailed documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in power systems, renewable energy (PV/wind), or energy storage projects.
• Preferred: Hands-on experience with RMU, medium voltage switchgear, and MV skid systems.
• Experience in large-scale BESS commissioning and maintenance is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics, protection systems, and testing equipment.
• Familiarity with Modbus, CAN, and SCADA integration.
• Good knowledge of safety regulations and standards for electrical work sites; HSE adherence.
• English proficiency for technical documentation and communication; able to work in harsh UAE site conditions.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine operation, inspection, and preventive maintenance post-COD.
• Ensure activities comply with site safety procedures and electrical safety regulations.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, commissioning records, and maintenance documentation.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders to address technical issues; develop annual maintenance plans.
• Support spare parts planning, inventory control, and warehouse management; implement system modifications and corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose and resolve technical faults across electrical and control systems during commissioning and operation.

Perform routine operation, inspection, and preventive maintenance activities post-COD.

Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with site safety procedures and electrical safety regulations.

Prepare required detailed technical reports, commissioning records, and maintenance documentation.

Coordinate with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders to address technical issues efficiently. Develop and implement annual maintenance plans in coordination with the team and customer requirements.

Support spare parts planning, inventory control, and warehouse management. Implement system modifications and corrective actions based on client or project requirements.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline.

Minimum 2+ years of experience in power systems, renewable energy (PV/wind), or energy storage projects.

Preferred: Hands-on experience with RMU, medium voltage switchgear, and MV skid systems.

Experience in large-scale BESS commissioning and maintenance is highly preferred.

Good command of English (technical documentation and communication). Ability to work in harsh site conditions and adapt to UAE climate.
