Job summary

BeWunder Dubai seeks a Technical Planner, Rigging to develop safe, practical rigging solutions for Event Production projects from tender through on-site delivery. You will translate briefs into technical concepts, create 2D/3D rigging drawings, and perform Braceworks analyses to ensure load safety and compliance.

Collaboration with lighting, audio, and video teams is essential, as is reviewing venue and structural drawings to assess constraints and risks.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in rigging technical planning/design within live events, entertainment, experiential, theatre, or a related industry.
• Strong technical understanding of entertainment rigging systems, including truss systems, hoists, suspension systems, rigging hardware, load distribution, and structural interfaces.
• Solid understanding of rigging calculations, point loads, distributed loads, load paths, equipment selection, and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical planning and design of rigging systems for Event Production projects from tender and concept through to onsite delivery.
• Translate project briefs and creative requirements into practical, safe, and technically sound rigging solutions.
• Develop detailed 2D and 3D rigging drawings in Vectorworks, including rigging plots, truss layouts, suspension points, hoist locations, and equipment loads.
• Use Braceworks for rigging analysis, load calculations, and load distribution.
• Coordinate rigging designs with lighting, audio and video disciplines.
• Review venue, architectural, structural, and production drawings to identify technical requirements, constraints, load limitations, and potential risks.
• Ensure rigging solutions align with project scope, operational requirements, and safety standards.
• Support tendering and pre-production through technical concepts, drawings, calculations, specifications, and equipment requirements.
• Coordinate with project teams, suppliers, subcontractors, manufacturers, and structural engineers to resolve technical and design requirements.
• Identify and resolve rigging risks, clashes, structural constraints, and installation challenges, maintaining accurate drawings and documentation throughout the project.
• Provide technical support during installation and onsite delivery and ensure designs comply with relevant industry, health & safety, manufacturer, venue, and BeWunder standards.

Your mission

As part of the Design & Engineering team, the Technical Planner, Rigging will be responsible for developing safe, practical, and technically sound rigging solutions for Event Production projects. The role will support projects from tender and concept stages through detailed technical planning and onsite delivery, working closely with project teams and other technical planners.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead the technical planning and design of rigging systems for Event Production projects from tender and concept through to onsite delivery.

Your profile

• Proven experience in rigging technical planning/ design within live events, entertainment, experiential, theatre, or a related industry.
• Strong technical understanding of entertainment rigging systems, including truss systems, hoists, suspension systems, rigging hardware, load distribution, and structural interfaces.
• Strong proficiency and practical experience with Braceworks, the rigging analysis module within Vectorworks, is essential, including rigging calculations and load analysis.
• Solid understanding of rigging calculations, point loads, distributed loads, load paths, equipment selection, and safe working practices.
• Riggers Training Level 2 certification is essential.
• Experience coordinating rigging requirements with lighting, audio and video disciplines.
• Strong understanding of relevant rigging health and safety requirements, standards, and industry best practices.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary project teams.
• Comfortable working independently while being an active contributor within the wider Design & Engineering and Event Production teams.
• Previous experience working on projects within the Middle East and/or international Event Production environment.
• Degree, diploma, or relevant technical qualification in Rigging, Technical Production, Event Technology, Structural/Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.
