QuantumGate is dedicated to developing and commercializing cutting-edge post-quantum cryptographic solutions. Our mission is to safeguard enterprise digital environments through innovative protocols and applications that address the evolving challenges of the post-quantum era.
We are looking for an experienced Technical Team Lead to lead the architecture, development, deployment, and evolution of QuantumGate's cryptographic discovery and migration platform.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role that combines software architecture, cloud-native engineering, cybersecurity, applied cryptography, and engineering management. You will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for delivering enterprise-grade solutions that discover cryptographic assets, aggregate and analyse security data, assess cryptographic risk, support remediation planning, and coordinate cryptographic migration across complex IT environments.
Working closely with Product Management, Security Research, DevOps, Solutions Engineering, Sales, external development partners, and customers, you will translate business and customer requirements into scalable technical architectures, delivery plans, and high-quality software releases.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Own the end-to-end technical architecture of QuantumGate's cryptographic discovery and migration platform.
- Define and maintain the platform's architectural roadmap, ensuring alignment with product strategy, customer requirements, security objectives, and commercial priorities.
- Make and document architectural decisions covering system design, APIs, service boundaries, data models, deployment architectures, security controls, scalability, resilience, and operational support.
- Balance short-term delivery objectives with long-term maintainability, scalability, performance, and reduction of technical debt.
- Evaluate architectural changes and assess their impact on customer deployments, integrations, upgrade paths, and operational support.
Engineering Leadership & Delivery
- Lead, mentor, and coordinate a multidisciplinary engineering team including backend, frontend, DevOps, QA, data, security, and AI engineers.
- Translate product requirements into technical specifications, implementation plans, work packages, milestones, and acceptance criteria.
- Drive engineering best practices across secure software development, code quality, testing, CI/CD, dependency management, vulnerability management, and release management.
- Manage engineering capacity, technical dependencies, delivery risks, and release planning to ensure predictable execution.
- Foster a collaborative engineering culture focused on technical excellence, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
Platform, Data & AI
- Lead the design and evolution of scalable data ingestion and processing pipelines capable of handling large volumes of cryptographic discovery data.
- Define canonical data models representing cryptographic assets, certificates, keys, algorithms, software components, systems, business services, dependencies, and migration activities.
- Establish platform performance, scalability, availability, and capacity targets for enterprise deployments.
- Provide technical direction for capabilities that identify cryptographic usage, assess risk, support remediation planning, and coordinate cryptographic migration.
- Lead the integration of AI-assisted capabilities, including natural language querying, data interpretation, reporting, remediation recommendations, migration planning, and operational assistance.
- Work closely with cryptographers and security specialists to ensure technical recommendations align with recognised industry standards and best practices.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Partner with Product Management to refine product requirements, prioritise technical initiatives, and maintain a realistic engineering roadmap.
- Collaborate with Solutions Engineering and customer teams to understand deployment, infrastructure, integration, security, and operational requirements.
- Communicate technical direction, architectural decisions, delivery progress, risks, and trade-offs effectively to both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Coordinate effectively with external development partners and vendors to ensure successful delivery and technical alignment.
Required Experience & Skills
Core Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering, software architecture, cybersecurity engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of experience leading or technically managing software development teams.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex enterprise software products from architecture through production deployment.
- Strong understanding of applied cryptography, PKI, certificates, TLS, key management, cloud security, IAM, secrets management, monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and security best practices.
- Experience building cloud-native applications using containerised technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong backend software engineering skills using one or more languages including Python, Go, Java, Kotlin, TypeScript, or C++.
