The opportunity

EY is seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Tax Policy & Controversy team where you will lead complex engagements and play a key role in driving the growth of our International Tax & Transaction Services (ITTS) practice.

This role will focus on advising clients on evolving tax policies, managing complex tax disputes and navigating regulatory challenges across jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax law policy analysis and dispute resolution with the ability to translate technical issues into practical strategies for clients.

Your key responsibilities
  • Provide strategic guidance on tax policy developments, legislative changes and regulatory trends at local and international levels.
  • Support clients in tax controversy matters including audits, disputes and negotiations with tax authorities.
  • Draft technical analyses, position papers and policy submissions for clients and industry groups.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate tax risks and optimize compliance frameworks.
  • Conduct research on global tax policy shifts, OECD initiatives and digital economy tax developments.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (legal, finance, economics, public policy) to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Prepare and present insights to clients, regulators and external stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
Skills and attributes for success

You must be able to build strong client relationships & excellently communicate in a range of situations in both written and oral English. You should also be able to identify areas of risk, carry out an effective review and know when to refer upwards. You are expected to be a client focused and commercially aware team player with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels. You must also possess project management skills: plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines and monitor your own budget. You should also be able to solve problems creatively and pragmatically.

To qualify for the role
  • A degree in economics, finance, tax or accounting.
  • At least three years of relevant experience as a Tax professional.
  • Experience working for a Big 4 accounting firm is preferred. However, we will consider candidates from governmental entities or international firms.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic and international tax rules, dispute resolution processes and tax authority practices.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and interact with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including drafting technical memos and policy papers.
Ideally you’ll also have
  • Experience engaging with tax authorities, regulators and industry bodies.
  • Familiarity with OECD BEPS Pillar One and Two and global minimum tax frameworks.
  • Exposure to litigation support, arbitration or alternative dispute resolution.
  • Client‑facing experience in advising multinational corporations.
