We are seeking an experienced Supervisory Biomedical Engineer (Clinical) to lead a team of engineers and technicians in maintaining and supporting medical equipment across clinical settings. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise in biomedical engineering, and a deep understanding of clinical workflows. This is a senior-level role that will oversee the safe and effective use of biomedical equipment within the healthcare environment, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership & Management:

    • Supervise and mentor a team of biomedical engineers, technicians, and clinical support staff

    • Coordinate and manage daily operations of the clinical engineering department, ensuring efficient workflows and high-quality service

    • Assign tasks and set priorities to ensure timely maintenance and repair of medical devices and equipment

    • Provide training and professional development opportunities for team members

    • Conduct performance reviews, identify skill gaps, and create development plans for engineering staff

    • Foster a collaborative, supportive environment for engineers and clinicians to work together

  • Clinical Engineering Support:

    • Oversee the installation, maintenance, repair, and calibration of biomedical equipment in clinical settings (e.g., patient monitoring systems, diagnostic tools, surgical devices)

    • Ensure all medical equipment complies with safety regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485)

    • Manage the preventive maintenance program to ensure optimal functionality of medical devices and reduce downtime

    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to clinical equipment

    • Work closely with clinical staff to ensure equipment is being used correctly and safely, providing guidance and training as needed

  • Regulatory Compliance & Safety:

    • Ensure that all biomedical equipment meets healthcare regulations, safety standards, and manufacturer specifications

    • Oversee audits and inspections, ensuring compliance with both internal policies and external regulations (e.g., Joint Commission, FDA, IEC 60601)

    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections in accordance with regulatory requirements

    • Lead efforts for equipment safety recalls and corrective actions when needed

  • Project Management & Improvement Initiatives:

    • Manage projects related to the acquisition, installation, and decommissioning of biomedical equipment

    • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., IT, facilities management) to implement new technologies and systems in the clinical environment

    • Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency gains within the clinical engineering department

    • Stay current on advancements in biomedical technology and integrate new solutions into clinical workflows where applicable

  • Stakeholder Communication:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for clinical staff, administrators, and vendors regarding biomedical engineering matters

    • Collaborate with senior management to create budgets, allocate resources, and plan for future equipment needs

    • Communicate effectively with external suppliers and manufacturers for parts procurement, product support, and warranty issues

Requirements
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in biomedical engineering, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or leadership role

  • Extensive experience working with clinical biomedical equipment (e.g., patient monitors, diagnostic devices, therapeutic systems)

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, medical device standards (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 60601), and clinical safety protocols

  • Proven leadership abilities with experience in managing teams and projects

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical issues in a clinical environment

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate with clinicians and senior management

  • Familiarity with healthcare facility management and the integration of biomedical systems within clinical operations

  • Certification as a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) or Clinical Engineer (CCE) is highly desirable

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively
