Job summary

Client of Teach East in the United Arab Emirates seeks an experienced school counselor to plan, deliver and evaluate a comprehensive counseling program for all students, addressing academic, career, personal and social-emotional development.

You will provide individual and group counseling, teach guidance lessons, maintain confidential records, collaborate with teachers and parents, and act as safeguarding lead as required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in School Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related field.
• State-licensed or certified counseling credential.
• Minimum of two years of experience as a school counselor in a K-12 setting; international experience is a distinct advantage.
• Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development, counseling theories, and a variety of therapeutic approaches.
• Proven ability to conduct effective individual and group counseling and to manage sensitive information with discretion.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English.
• High empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a non-judgmental approach to diverse communities.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and ethical practice.

Responsibilities

• Plan deliver and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the academic career personal and social-emotional development needs of all students.
• Provide individual and small-group counseling sessions to support students with challenges such as academic planning social skills emotional regulation and crisis intervention.
• Utilize assessments observations data and collaboration to identify student needs and monitor progress.
• Teach developmental guidance lessons in classrooms on topics such as bullying prevention study skills career exploration and personal safety.
• Serve as a primary resource for students teachers and parents providing guidance on issues affecting student learning and well-being.
• Maintain confidential and accurate records of counseling sessions student progress and safeguarding concerns in strict accordance with school policy and ethical standards.
• Collaborate with teachers leadership and external professionals to create and implement support plans for students.
• Lead the development and implementation of initiatives that promote a positive school climate such as well-being weeks peer mentoring programs and parent workshops.
• Participate in child protection and safeguarding training and act as a designated safeguarding lead or team member following all school protocols for reporting concerns.
• Communicate effectively and sensitively with parents and guardians to support student success and connect families with external resources when needed.
