AtkinsRéalis in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Inspector specializing in structural and road infrastructure to join our team. You will conduct routine and specialized inspections of bridges, tunnels, underpasses and related structures, evaluate structural integrity, and compile detailed condition reports.

You will support QA/QC, ensure compliance with UAE standards such as AASHTO/ASCE, coordinate with contractors, and guide junior inspectors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural focus
• 7+ years of proven structural inspection experience
• PE or equivalent certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine and specialized inspections of road and highway structures
• Inspect bridges and flyovers, underpasses, tunnels
• Verify compliance with IFC drawings, specs, and method statements
• Perform visual inspections, dimensional checks, and NDT as required
• Monitor concrete works: formwork, reinforcement, curing
• Coordinate daily inspection activities with contractors and project teams
• Prepare detailed inspection and progress reports

Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Inspector specializing in Structural assessments to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with a focus on structures. The Inspector will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, evaluating structural integrity, and providing detailed reports on the condition of project and related infrastructure. The role requires a keen eye for detail, excellent analytical skills, and a deep understanding of structural engineering principles.

Your role

Structural & Road Infrastructure Inspection

• Conduct routine and specialized inspections of road and highway structures, including:




• Bridges and flyovers.




• Underpasses and tunnels.




• Retaining walls and abutments.




• Culverts, drainage structures, and road-side installations.




• Verify that construction works comply with approved IFC drawings, technical specifications, and method statements.

Quality Control & Compliance

• Perform visual inspections, dimensional checks, and non-destructive testing (NDT) as required for concrete and steel structures.




• Monitor concrete works including formwork, reinforcement, concreting, post-tensioning, and curing activities.




• Ensure compliance with AASHTO, ASCE, FHWA, ASTM, and local authority (UAE) standards.

Reporting & Documentation

• Record inspection data, site observations, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective actions.




• Prepare detailed inspection and progress reports highlighting:




• Structural condition.




• Construction quality issues.




• Safety concerns and recommendations.

Coordination & Technical Support

• Coordinate daily inspection activities with contractors, consultants, and project management teams.




• Assist Project Engineers in reviewing shop drawings, material submittals, and work inspection requests (WIRs).




• Provide technical guidance to junior inspectors and site staff on best practices in road structure construction.

Stakeholder & Site Interface

• Attend site meetings with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities as required.




• Support audits, quality reviews, and inspections conducted by authorities or third parties.




• Ensure inspection activities are aligned with project schedules and safety requirements.

About you

Education & Certification

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (Structural specialization preferred).




• Master's Degree is an advantage.




• Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification preferred.

Experience

• 7+ years of proven experience in structural inspection, preferably on:




• Road and highway projects.




• Bridges and major infrastructure works.




• Demonstrated experience working in consultant supervision roles is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of:




• Structural engineering principles and materials.




• Road and highway construction methods.




• Quality assurance and inspection procedures.




• Proficient in inspection tools, testing equipment, and reporting software.
