Designer East Architecture & Engineering Design Consultants in Dubai, UAE seeks a Structural Design Engineer to lead projects from concept through Dubai Municipality approval and on to construction. You will own the structural design, stamp and submit for approvals, and coordinate with architects and the MEP team, ensuring drawings and calculations are prepared personally when needed.

Expect to work on villas and low- to mid-rise buildings, using ETABS, SAFE, STAAD Pro, AutoCAD and Revit

Formación

• Dubai Municipality approved Structural Design Engineer, G+4 category minimum.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, attested for the UAE.
• Member of the Society of Engineers, UAE with a valid membership card.
• Minimum 5 years of structural design experience, with at least 3 years in the UAE.
• Proven record on villas and low- to mid-rise buildings in Dubai, personally stamped.
• Experience in both structural design and site inspection of structural works.
• Proficiency in ETABS, SAFE, STAAD Pro and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of Dubai Building Code 2021, ACI, BS and local authority procedures.
• Able to work independently and run several projects at the same time.

• Support value engineering with safe, practical options.
• Maintain a complete structural file for each project.

About Designer East:

Designer East is the architecture and engineering consultancy of Designer East Group, a Dubai based group whose companies cover design, interiors and fit-out, MEP contracting, real estate and property maintenance. Our structural work is mostly private villas and palaces, villa extensions and modifications, and low- to mid-rise residential and commercial buildings, submitted through Dubai Municipality, Trakhees, DDA, Nakheel and the other Dubai authorities.

Role Description:

We need a structural engineer who can take a project from concept to authority approval and through construction without hand-holding. You will own the structural design on your projects, stamp and submit them under your Dubai Municipality approval, coordinate with our architects and MEP team, and sign off the structural works on site. This is a working engineer position, not a management seat, so you should be comfortable producing calculations and drawings yourself.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare structural calculations, drawings, reports and technical documentation for RC and steel structures, including rafts, piled foundations, basements, retaining walls, swimming pools, post-tensioned slabs and steel canopies and shade structures.
• Design to Dubai Building Code 2021, ACI, BS and Eurocode as applicable, including wind and seismic design in line with Dubai Municipality requirements.
• Run analysis and design in ETABS, SAFE and STAAD Pro, and produce drawings in AutoCAD, with Revit Structure where the project is delivered in BIM.
• Prepare, submit and follow up structural submissions with Dubai Municipality, Trakhees, DDA, Nakheel and other authorities until approval, and respond to authority comments.
• Carry out structural assessments of existing buildings and prepare strengthening and modification designs and the related NOC submissions.
• Review contractor shop drawings, bar bending schedules and material submittals and issue structural responses.
• Attend site for periodic inspections and inspection requests, verify works against approved drawings and sign off structural stages.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, consultants and contractors to close out design clashes and site issues.
• Support value engineering with safe, practical and cost-effective structural options.
• Maintain a complete structural file for each project in the company document system.

Requirements:

• Dubai Municipality approved Structural Design Engineer, G+4 category as a minimum. Candidates without a current DM approval will not be shortlisted.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, attested for the UAE.
• Member of the Society of Engineers, UAE, with a valid membership card.
• Minimum 5 years of structural design experience, of which at least 3 years in the UAE.
• Proven record on villas and low- to mid-rise residential and commercial buildings in Dubai, with projects you have personally stamped and taken through approval.
• Experience in both structural design and site inspection of structural works.
• Proficiency in ETABS, SAFE, STAAD Pro and AutoCAD.
• Sound working knowledge of Dubai Building Code 2021, ACI, BS and local authority procedures.
• Able to work independently and run several projects at the same time.

Preferred:

• Dubai Municipality approval at G+12 or unlimited category.
• Revit Structure and BIM delivery experience.
• Previous submissions through Trakhees, DDA or Nakheel.
• Post-tension design experience (ADAPT or SAFE PT).
• Arabic language for authority coordination.
• Available to join immediately or within 30 days.
