Job summary

University of Sharjah is seeking a Procurement Officer to manage all purchasing and supplier relations, evaluate suppliers, and negotiate contracts in alignment with university policies.

The role involves handling pre-qualification, tender management, pricing negotiations, and contract administration to ensure high-quality, cost-efficient acquisitions for the Procurement and Supply Chain Department.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• Professional qualifications in procurement and supply such as CIPS, CSCP, CLSCMP will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Perform procurement and contracting activities including pre-qualification, tender management, negotiation and contracts.
• Manage and process purchasing requests from colleges/departments and communicate with decision-makers.
• Negotiate prices with external suppliers to secure competitive pricing and identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Prepare and draft contracts; negotiate terms and conditions to ensure quality and reliability.
• Track payments, deadlines, approvals, and contract correspondence; maintain organized files.
• Keep detailed records of purchased products and monitor delivery status against requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance against contract and ensure defined performance criteria.
• Ensure contractor compliance with legal requirements and company policies; report concerns.
• Maintain an audit file for each contract with all related documents and schedules.
• Research and evaluate prospective suppliers; maintain supplier information and registrations.
