Job summary

The candidate will develop HLD/LLD documents, set standards, and guide engineers while collaborating with infrastructure, database, virtualization, and security teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years in Storage & Backup Architecture.
• Vendor storage certifications preferred.
• ITIL 4 Foundation preferred.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Storage & Backup Architect

Experience: 6+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years in a Storage & Backup Architecture or similar role.

Location: UAE

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Storage & Backup Architect to lead the design and technical governance of enterprise storage, backup, and data protection solutions.

This is a hands-on architecture role covering SAN/NAS, storage performance, replication, backup, recovery, High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and capacity planning. The role will ensure storage and backup environments are scalable, resilient, secure, and recoverable.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead storage and backup architecture and solution design.
• Design enterprise SAN/NAS, block and file storage solutions.
• Define storage tiering, replication, performance, and capacity planning requirements.
• Design and govern backup and data protection solutions, including retention and immutability.
• Define and maintain Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO).
• Design High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions for storage and backup environments.
• Develop and maintain High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation.
• Define restore testing and recovery validation processes to ensure data can be successfully recovered.
• Integrate storage and backup solutions with virtualization, database, and infrastructure platforms.
• Evaluate storage and backup technologies and provide technical recommendations.
• Define architecture standards, technical guidelines, and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance to storage and backup engineers during implementation and delivery.
• Review technical implementations to ensure alignment with approved architecture and design standards.
• Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex storage, backup, and recovery issues.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, database, virtualization, security, and architecture teams.

Technical Requirements

• Strong knowledge of enterprise SAN/NAS and block/file storage architecture.
• Experience with Fibre Channel, SAN fabrics, storage tiering, and replication.
• Strong experience with enterprise backup and data protection platforms.
• Knowledge of backup retention and immutability.
• Strong understanding of RPO/RTO, restore testing, and recovery assurance.
• Experience with storage performance and capacity planning.
• Strong knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery architecture.
• Experience integrating storage and backup technologies with virtualization and database environments.
• Experience producing HLD, LLD, architecture diagrams, and technical standards.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 6+ years of relevant experience, including at least 2+ years in Storage & Backup Architecture or a similar role.
• Relevant storage vendor certification is preferred.
• ITIL 4 Foundation is preferred.
• Backup or data-protection vendor certifications are an advantage.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams.
