Overview

InterContinental Residences Dubai Business Bay is seeking a dedicated, organized, and service-driven Staff Accommodation Supervisor / General Technician. This role is responsible for overseeing staff accommodation operations while supporting HR activities and handling technical and maintenance duties to ensure a safe, comfortable, and fully compliant living and recreational environment for employees. You will play a key role in maintaining accommodation standards, staff facilities, regulatory compliance, and emergency preparedness in line with IHG and UAE requirements.

As a Staff Accommodation Supervisor / General Technician, your attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to quality will directly contribute to the well-being of our colleagues and the overall success of our operation.

Your Day-to-Day

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

Human Resources Management
  • Support HR initiatives, staff engagement programs, events, and recognition activities.
Staff Accommodation & Welfare Management
  • Manage staff housing, including allocation, room changes, and upkeep of accommodations.
  • Ensure all rooms for new joiners and internal transfers are thoroughly cleaned and prepared before move-in, with all amenities complete, including linens and welcome kits.
  • Ensure staff living areas meet safety, hygiene, and comfort standards at all times.
  • Monitor occupancy, resolve accommodation-related issues, and maintain accurate records.
  • Welcome new employees, assist with airport pickups and local relocations, and ensure smooth onboarding. Provide information on bus transport, nearby clinics, restaurants, and grocery stores.
  • Maintain accommodation inventory, including linens, welcome kits, cleaning tools, and supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Coordinate with contracted pest control providers and initiate pest control treatments in staff accommodation every three months.
  • Coordinate with Heads of Department to initiate and schedule monthly apartment audits to ensure compliance with accommodation standards.
  • Ensure staff accommodation is fully compliant with HR audits, RLR audits, and all applicable UAE staff accommodation regulations and standards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all staff accommodation-related inquiries, issues, and coordination.
Staff Fun Hub & Recreational Facilities Management
  • Ensure the staff fun hub is clean, safe, and well maintained at all times.
  • Maintain and monitor all recreational and utility equipment, including bicycles, PlayStation units, billiard tables, computers, table tennis equipment, washing machines, refrigerators, and other related facilities.
  • Arrange timely repair, servicing, or replacement of damaged or faulty equipment.
  • Maintain and monitor CCTV and biometric access systems within the fun hub.
  • Ensure that only authorized hotel employees have access to the staff fun hub and enforce access control procedures.
General Technician Duties
  • Carry out basic maintenance and repair works in staff accommodations and staff facilities (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and minor AC works).
  • Conduct routine inspections of rooms, common areas, and recreational facilities to identify and rectify faults.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
  • Coordinate with external contractors and main engineering teams for major repairs.
  • Ensure proper use and care of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
Safety, Emergency & Compliance
  • Coordinate with the Security Manager to plan, initiate, and conduct emergency fire drill training for staff accommodation and staff facilities.
  • Ensure staff are aware of fire safety procedures, evacuation plans, and emergency assembly points.
  • Support regular inspections of fire safety equipment and emergency systems in staff areas.
Administration & Reporting
  • Prepare reports on accommodation occupancy, maintenance activities, apartment audit findings, fun hub maintenance, HR support activities, and safety drills.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, health and safety regulations, audit requirements, and hotel standards.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Foster a positive, professional, and supportive living and recreational environment for staff.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping, security, HR, engineering, IT, and HODs to ensure smooth facility operations.
  • Act as a liaison between management and staff regarding accommodation, maintenance, audits, welfare, recreational facilities, compliance, and safety matters.
What We Need from You
Education & Qualifications
  • Diploma or technical certification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Maintenance preferred.
  • HR or hospitality-related training is an advantage.
Experience & Skills
  • 3–5 years of experience in staff accommodation management and/or general maintenance, preferably in hospitality.
  • Experience supporting HR initiatives, managing staff facilities, and participating in safety or emergency training is an advantage.
  • Strong practical knowledge of building maintenance systems and basic IT/AV equipment.
  • Good understanding of health, safety, hygiene, accommodation regulations, audit standards, and fire safety requirements in the UAE.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
