Job summary

Globant seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer to own, optimize, and scale CI/CD pipelines for Python microservices across multi-cloud environments. You will design and maintain production-grade GitLab CI pipelines, Dockerfiles, and Helm charts, collaborating with cloud infra teams to ensure fast, reliable releases.

There is a strong emphasis on Python tooling, pytest-based testing, and advanced scripting in Python and Bash.

Qualifications

• Location required: based in Egypt or Jordan; remote or hybrid depending on location.
• 5–9 years of dedicated DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Build/Release Automation experience.
• Deep, senior-level GitLab CI YAML mastery, runner configurations, caching, and pipeline optimization.
• Production-grade Helm charts development and multi-stage Dockerfile optimization.
• Strong Python ecosystem knowledge: virtual environments, poetry/pip, pytest.
• Kubernetes architecture understanding and familiarity with Azure/AWS.
• Advanced scripting in Python and Bash for deployment tooling.
• Fluent technical English communication (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer (5–9 years experience) based in Egypt or Jordan to own, optimize, and scale our continuous delivery pipelines, application packaging, and test integration workflows.

In this role, you will lead the implementation of complex GitLab CI pipelines, manage application Dockerfiles and Helm charts, and build smooth automation between our Python software stack and Kubernetes environments. You will work closely with development and cloud infrastructure teams to eliminate build bottlenecks, resolve runner connectivity constraints, and ensure rapid, reliable release cycles.

Key Responsibilities

• CI/CD Pipeline Engineering: Design, build, and optimize enterprise-grade GitLab CI pipelines for complex Python microservices and automated testing suites.

• Container Packaging & Orchestration:

  • Author, maintain, and secure multi-stage Dockerfiles utilizing enterprise/hardened base images.

  • Develop and manage modular Helm charts for deploying application services to client-managed Kubernetes clusters.

• Python Toolchain & Testing Integration: Seamlessly integrate Python test runners (pytest), linting tools, and application evaluation/observability frameworks directly into automated CI stages.

• Runner & Network Automation: Build lean, Python-native utilities or intermediary proxy scripts to solve runner network restrictions and facilitate secure endpoint connectivity.

• Infrastructure Collaboration: Partner with external Azure/AWS infrastructure teams and internal software leads to debug cluster deployments, manage runner environments, and resolve production release issues.

• Process Improvement & Mentorship: Establish deployment best practices, streamline pipeline performance (caching, DAG, multi-project pipelines), and mentor mid-level engineers.

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

• Location: Based in Egypt or Jordan (working remotely or hybrid depending on location).

• Experience: 5–9 years of dedicated experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Build/Release Automation roles.

• GitLab CI Mastery: Deep, senior-level expertise in GitLab CI YAML syntax, custom runner configurations, matrix builds, caching, and pipeline optimization.

• Docker & Helm Expertise: Hands-on experience writing production-grade Helm charts from scratch and optimizing multi-stage Dockerfiles for hardened environments.

• Python Proficiency: Strong background in the Python ecosystem—including virtual environments, package managers (poetry/pip), and test automation frameworks (pytest).

• Kubernetes & Cloud Literacy: Solid understanding of Kubernetes architecture (Deployments, StatefulSets, Ingress, Services) and major cloud platforms (Azure or AWS).

• Scripting & Tooling: Advanced scripting skills in Python and Bash for building operational utilities and deployment tooling.

• Troubleshooting & Communication: Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose complex pipeline or container issues, paired with fluent technical English communication (written and spoken).

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience integrating AI/LLM evaluation, tracing, or observability tools (OPIK, LangSmith, Prometheus) into CI/CD workflows.

• Familiarity with GitOps deployment methodologies using tools like ArgoCD or Flux.

• Exposure to agentic Python frameworks (e.g., LangGraph or Microsoft Agent Framework).

• Professional certifications such as CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) or Azure/AWS DevOps/Solutions Architect certifications.
