Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the United Arab Emirates seeks a Senior Design Engineer to specialize in the design of cabin trims for vehicles. In this role, you will lead the development of innovative and compliant design solutions, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with suppliers. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering, have 5-8 years of relevant experience, and strong skills in CATIA or Siemens NX. Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of experience in cabin trim design (interior & exterior) for automotive or heavy vehicle applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of cabin-related exterior and interior trim components.
  • Perform feasibility checks, DFMEA, and support CAE and crashworthiness validation studies.
  • Define design guidelines, standards, and best practices for cabin trims.
  • Review, approve, and mentor junior engineers’ design deliverables.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on tooling, manufacturability, and cost optimization.
  • Conduct and present design reviews to management and customers.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior design engineers.

Skills

Strong proficiency in CATIA or Siemens NX (Surfacing + Solid Modeling)
In-depth knowledge of materials, including plastics, composites, and sheet metal
Solid understanding of ergonomics, NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness), and safety standards
Experience with DFMEA, DFM/DFA, and tolerance analysis
Proven leadership and mentoring abilities
Excellent communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering

As a Senior Design Engineer specializing in exterior and interior cabin trims, you will leverage your expertise to deliver innovative, high-quality, and cost-effective design solutions. You will contribute to the development and launch of advanced vehicle programs while ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of cabin-related exterior and interior trim components, including dashboards, doors, roof panels, bumpers, mirrors, seats, and other cabin elements.
  • Perform feasibility checks, DFMEA, and support CAE and crashworthiness validation studies.
  • Define design guidelines, standards, and best practices for cabin trims.
  • Review, approve, and mentor junior engineers’ design deliverables.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on tooling, manufacturability, and cost optimization.
  • Conduct and present design reviews to management and customers.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards such as NFPA, FMVSS, ECE, and other applicable regulations.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior design engineers, fostering technical growth within the team.
Academic Qualification
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong proficiency in CATIA or Siemens NX (Surfacing + Solid Modeling).
  • In-depth knowledge of materials, including plastics, composites, and sheet metal, along with joining techniques.
