Job description
Job Objective

This role is responsible for developing, implementing, improving, optimizing and managing Special process, welding and machine shop operations in support of inspection/repair/overhaul of aircrafts, engines and components. Responsible of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost objectives are met while driving continuous improvement and lean implementation.

The manager shall work closely with the relevant internal and external stake holders to lead and take care of daily operations, initiate continuous improvements and LEAN implementations, and collaborate on New Product/Process Introduction and capability build up.

Key Accountabilities
  • Designing, implementing, and optimizing special processes for the repair of aircraft components
  • Lead or participate in lean process‑improvement initiatives projects to enhance MRO operational efficiency, maintain technical data on processes, and ensure compliance with OEM and regulatory requirements.
  • Design, develop, test, and/or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended repair/overhaul methods. Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of machinery and equipment according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Develop, evaluate, and optimize CNC machining processes for precision components IAW OEM requirement.
  • Define, implement and control special processes such as heat treatment, surface treatment (anodizing, plating, coating), Welding (TIG, MIG, spot welding), NDT (PT, MT, UT), Shot peening, abrasive grit blasting, cleaning and stripping.
  • Support supplier qualification and audits for outsourced special processes
  • Maintain process certification and audits for internal and external compliance.
  • Analyze and refine maintenance processes to improve turnaround times, improve cost effectiveness and robustness of the processes if deemed necessary and enhance quality.
  • Assist in developing and evaluating alternate solutions and recommending the best option in the assignments
  • Perform comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards, ensuring all processes adhere to health and safety regulations, environmental management protocols, and quality control standards.
  • Investigate incidents and recurring maintenance issues thoroughly to determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions to mitigate future risks.
  • Analyze and report the technical risks and provide with mitigation plans feasible and applicable.
  • Analyze related technical publications and manuals (work instructions, DMWR, DWI etc.) to define and issue the special processes documentations required to perform MRO and intermediate level maintenance tasks.
  • Make sure that the materials, process and specifications in the work instructions are applicable and compliant to the specified AMMROC QA norms and AS9110 standards.
  • Develop and maintain process standard operating procedures (SOPs) for application and process certification in alignment with OEM manuals (AMM, SRM, CMM), regulatory requirements (EASA Part 145, Part M, etc), and internal quality standards.
  • Analyze, define, report and issue processes requirements to qualify the MRO or back shops to meet work instructions and technical orders.
  • Assist in generating work instructions, technical work scope and operating procedures for all processes required for the repair of aircraft and engine components
  • Monitor and report process specification requirements in accordance with applicable documentation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal protocols.
  • Prepare different technical reports such as, but not limited to, engineering change request, statement of work, technical discrepancy‑evaluation reports, corrective action reports, related test reports as directed by the senior manager – technical & engineering services department
  • Analyze deliverables (manufacturing, testing, fabrication data) to validate requirements and document findings; submit structured, action‑oriented technical reports and process documentation that assess compliance and recommend effective engineering/process solutions.
  • Working closely with other functions (e.g., Engineering, Operations, quality assurance, planning and production teams, OEM, etc) on process development, implementation, utilization and labour efficiency, to ensure seamless integration of process improvements.
  • Interact with site engineers, process operators, and support staff (i.e. lab, mechanical, instrumentation, etc.)
  • Provide technical expertise, troubleshooting issues, and supporting operations with process-related challenges.
  • Coordinate regular contact with technical department of all AMMROC customers to remain abreast of any technical difficulties that arise on the aircraft and engine component being supported.
  • Ensure that all individual certification requirements for each process are fully met, kept current, and remain updated via applicable revision procedures.
  • Deliver expert support on materials, processes, manufacturing, testing, and verification activities throughout the repair and overhaul lifecycle ensuring AMMROC and OEM workflows remain fully compliant with regulatory, technical, and internal quality standards.
  • Quickly adapt and apply revised procedures; troubleshoot operational obstacles; and respond to evolving priorities or unplanned task requests from senior management.
  • Emphasizes the rapid integration of new information, concepts, and strategies to implement continuously updated processes and work to overcome obstacles that prevent project completion.
  • Develop and maintain equipment procurement requirements and specification defining performance, functional operation, material suitability, safety requirements, and quality‑assurance criteria to support process upgrades, new installations, and tooling validation in strict alignment with OEM/AMMROC standards, regulatory protocols and internal quality systems.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering discipline from a recognized university or an equivalent discipline and relevant technical qualification.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years' experience working in the field of special process, welding and machining or similar roles within aviation MRO sector or industry.
  • Hands‑on experience with process simulations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and system integration.
  • Knowledge of special processes such as NDT, adhesive bonding, plating, thermal spray coating, electrolyte coating, heat treatment, chemical cleaning and stripping, anodizing, boring, broaching, brazing, etc.
  • Good knowledge on various machining processes, including CNC machining, CMM and traditional methods for components repairs, creating metal parts, tools and fixtures.
  • Good knowledge in surface treatment, welding, grinding, turning, milling, drilling, honing, broaching, grooving, sawing, boring, reaming, water jet machining, etc.
  • Good knowledge on aircraft parts repair, precision machining, CNC Programming, material science, corrosion control and material testing standards.
  • Good knowledge on different types of materials and their machinability.
  • Knowledge on the functionality and maintenance requirements of various machining equipment
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process, materials, equipment, and quality control principles
  • Knowledge of EASA Part 145, Part M, and other relevant aviation regulations.
  • Good knowledge on CAD, CAM, MATLAB, SOLIDWORKS, or similar engineering software.
  • Ability to conduct technical discussions on the process engineering with customers, OEMs and suppliers.
  • Data analysis and statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
  • Process optimization and lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Good knowledge on military and industrial standards.
  • Good Knowledge of military aircraft maintenance operations.
  • Good Knowledge of basic maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Well‑organized self‑starter, capable of managing time to meet priorities, while maintaining accuracy and functionality of job.
  • Ability to read and interpret ASTM, Manuals, TOs, specifications and compliancy documents.
