Job description

An Endodontist is a dental specialist focused on diagnosing and treating issues related to the interior of the tooth, particularly the dental pulp and root canals. This role requires advanced knowledge of endodontic procedures, excellent manual dexterity, and a high level of attention to detail. The Endodontist works closely with general dentists, referring patients for specialised care.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Perform root canal treatments to remove infected or inflamed pulp.
  • Conduct retreatment of previously failed root canal therapies.
  • Address dental trauma, including fractures and dislodged teeth.
  • Carry out complex endodontic surgeries such as apicoectomy (removal of the tip of the tooth's root).
  • Use advanced technologies, such as digital imaging and operating microscopes, to perform precise and minimally invasive procedures.
  • Evaluate patients through clinical examinations and diagnostic imaging (e.g., X-rays, CBCT scans) to determine the condition of the dental pulp and surrounding tissues.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans to save natural teeth and alleviate pain.
  • Educate patients about the causes, treatments, and preventive measures related to tooth pain and pulp-related conditions.
  • Explain treatment options, expected outcomes, and possible risks to patients to ensure informed decision-making.
  • Communicate with referring dentists to discuss treatment plans, outcomes, and future care recommendations.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, including diagnoses, procedures, and follow-up care.
  • Work closely with general dentists and other specialists to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews to optimise patient outcomes.
Qualifications :
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), or equivalent dental degree from an accredited institution.
  • Post-graduate training or specialisation in Endodontics.
  • Experience : 3-7 years of experience as an Endodontist, preferably in a clinical setting or hospital
  • Expertise in modern endodontic techniques and equipment.
  • Excellent patient communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with precision under a microscope.
