Job summary

SEHA is seeking a Specialist Physician to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care in a busy Abu Dhabi Al Ain division. The role emphasizes supervision, training, and collaboration with consultants to ensure excellent patient outcomes and adherence to best practices.

You will participate in ward rounds, support incident reporting and quality improvement, and liaise with multiple departments to plan holistic patient care.

Qualifications

• Qualifications and tiers for post-board certification and relevant experience in internationally accredited institutes.
• Specialist-level clinical experience as described in the HB/HAAD residency framework.
• Complies with hospital policies regarding admissions, consultations, and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality, evidence-based, patient-centred care alongside consultants.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff; participate in ward rounds and case discussions.
• Support reporting on incidents and contribute to quality and safety initiatives.
• Liaise with other specialties and participate in multi-disciplinary meetings.
• Prepare patients for procedures and organize informed consent; provide on-call coverage as required.

Tier 1: No additional experience post board certification

Tier 2: ≥2 years clinical experience post qualification in internationally accredited institute

Tier 3: ≥3 years clinical experience as Specialist post qualification in internationally accredited institute

UAE nationals: No additional experience post board certification

For UAE Nationals + Non UAE Nationals in HAAD accredited residency programs: No experience post board certification

Job description

The Specialist Physician shares the same responsibility of the Consultant Physician for delivering high quality, evidence-based and patient-centred care. The post holder is expected to be an example of clinical excellence within the Division and contributes to the supervision and training of junior medical staff.

Responsibilities

Managerial/AdministrationSupports and adheres to all hospital departmental and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures.
Supports and participates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processes.
Assists with Consultant staff in ensuring that adequate medical coverage is provided within the Division at all times

Attends Divisional meetings as invited

Supports the reporting, investigation, and response to untoward incidents

Education

Promotes and participates in clinical research and publication

Promoting and assisting in the instruction, guidance and supervision of junior medical staff (required)

Keeps abreast of the current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in the industry

Participates in clinical research and publication.

• oAssists the Consultant Physician in supervising the activities of junior medical staff, and jointly assumes responsibility for the care they provide
• oComplies with all hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices
• oPractices appropriate utilization of the organization’s resources
• oLeads ward rounds; reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice
• oAccurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established procedures
• oRegularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required
• oLiaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required
• oActively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patients
• oEnsures preparation of patients for all procedures including obtaining informed consent
• oAccepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, primary care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals
• oParticipates in and supports the Consultant Physician in ensuring the provision of out of hours on call) coverage on a rotational basis including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays as required
• oCommunicates clinical information to patients and the patient’s family and friends (with consent of the patient) in a timely manner
• oMaintains a good working relationship with members of staff and promotes collaboration and a team-based approach to patient care
