Job summary

Jumeirah is seeking a Sommelier for our New French concept at Jumeirah Al Qasr. You will lead wine service, manage stock, and contribute to updating the wine list, while training the team and ensuring optimal guest experiences in a luxury setting.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in a similar role within 5-star properties or fine-dining, with strong wine knowledge, English proficiency, and a WSET certification. Fluent communication and a multicultural mindset are valued.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in the same role within a 5-star luxury property or fine-dining establishment.
• Proficient in English; knowledge of a second European language is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of wine, wine service, and guest satisfaction.
• WSET certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily wine service and coordinate with the service team.
• Monitor stock levels, rotation and storage to minimize wastage.
• Communicate wine availability and contribute updates to the wine list.
• Support team training through product knowledge and tastings.
• Assist with monthly inventories and ensure proper temperature records for wine chillers.
• Maintain service standards during peak operations, including refills and pairings.

About the Job

An opportunity has arisen for a Sommelier to join our New French concept in Jumeirah Al Qasr. The main duties and responsibilities of this role:

• Oversee daily wine service, ensuring smooth coordination with the service team and enhancing guest experience through expert recommendations.
• Maintain proper wine stock levels, monitor rotation and storage, and minimize wastage from opened bottles.
• Communicate wine availability and actively contribute suggestions for updates to the wine list.
• Support team training by sharing product knowledge and participating in tastings and briefings.
• Assist with monthly inventories, report discrepancies, and ensure accurate temperature records for wine chillers.
• Uphold service standards during peak operations, including refills, pairings, and special requests.

About You

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

• Two years of experience in the same role with a strong F&B background in a 5-star luxury property or a fine-dining standalone/branded restaurant.
• Proficient in English and a second language (European languages are desirable).
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, Micros, and Sevenrooms.
• Expert in Wine, WSET certification required.
• Experience working in a multi-cultural environment.
