Job summary

VentureOne seeks a highly experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) in CNC automation to lead the design, integration, and lifecycle support of advanced FMS-based systems. You will enable lights-out manufacturing, high-mix low-volume production, and data-driven operations across multiple DS Technology solutions.

The role requires deep CNC process knowledge, automation system design, and hands-on experience with integration of CNCs, MMS/ERP interfaces, and probing/metrology workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or related engineering field
• 12+ years of experience in CNC machining and industrial automation
• Proven experience with Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) or pallet-based automation
• Strong understanding of CNC operations, tooling, fixturing, and machining processes
• Experience integrating CNC machines and automation systems
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and CNC controllers (Fanuc/Siemens/Heidenhain)

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design of DS Technology-based FMS solutions (linear, multi-level, gantry systems). Define system architecture including machine configuration, pallet count, layout, material flow and buffer strategy
• Conduct feasibility studies, cycle time analysis, and throughput optimization
• Integrate CNC machines with OEMs (Doosan, Taichung, Hwacheon, Mazak, Fanuc) and ensure CNC controllers communicate with FMS
• Oversee DNC, NC program management, and tool offset integration
• Lead system commissioning, FAT/SAT, and ramp-up activities
• Provide technical leadership during proposals, design reviews and implementation
• Support ROI analysis, business case development, and capacity planning
• Work closely with customers and vendors to define requirements and drive continuous improvement

About The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Subject Matter Expert (SME) in CNC automation with deep expertise in Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS), particularly with DS Technology – Taiwan solutions. This role is responsible for leading the design, integration, optimization, and lifecycle support of advanced CNC automation systems, enabling lights-out manufacturing, high-mix low-volume (HMLV) production, and data-driven operations. The ideal candidate will combine strong CNC process knowledge, automation system design, and digital manufacturing expertise to deliver scalable and efficient production systems aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Types of Machines & Machining Process

• Strong experience with CNC machines including 3/4/5-axis machining centers, HMCs, VMCs, mill-turns, and turning centers. Deep understanding of milling, turning, drilling, and 5-axis strategies with focus on process standardization for FMS environments.
• Experience in deburring, tapping, EDM, wirecut, cylindrical grinding process.

Material Engineering Knowledge

• In-depth knowledge of machining behavior for materials such as titanium, Inconel, steels, and aluminum alloys.
• Ability to optimize cutting parameters, tool selection, and tool life strategies for stable unattended machining.

Drawing & GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)

• Strong proficiency in reading drawings and notes, GD&T standards (ASME Y14.5 / ISO) and interpretation of complex engineering drawings.
• Ability to align datum strategies, machining sequences, and inspection methods to meet tight tolerance requirements.

Fixture & Workholding Strategy

• Experience in designing and standardizing zero-point and modular fixturing systems for HMLV production.
• Ability to ensure repeatability by aligning fixture datums with machining and probing strategies across Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) setups.

FMS Solution Design & Engineering

• Lead end-to-end design of DS Technology-based FMS solutions (linear, multi-level, gantry systems). Define system architecture including:

CNC & Machine Integration

• Integrate CNC machines from OEMs such as Doosan, Victor Taichung, Hwacheon, Mazak, Fanuc.
• Ensure seamless communication between CNC controllers (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain) and FMS.
• Oversee DNC, NC program management, and tool offset integration.

Inline Probing & In-Process Metrology

• Hands-on experience with probing systems like Renishaw or Hexagon for part setup, inspection, and tool measurement.
• Ability to implement closed-loop machining with automatic offset correction and integrate probing data into MMS/MES for lights-out operation.

MMS (Manufacturing Management Software) Optimization

• Configure and optimize MMS for:
  • Production scheduling and prioritization
  • Tool life and resource management
  • Job queue optimization and real-time monitoring
• Integrate MMS with ERP/MES systems for end-to-end digital workflow.

Automation & Material Handling Systems

• Design and integrate pallet handling systems, storage systems, and AGVs/RGVs.
• Evaluate and implement robotic solutions (KUKA, Fanuc, ABB) where applicable.
• Ensure optimal material flow and minimal manual intervention.

Process Engineering for Lights-Out Manufacturing

• Develop robust machining processes for unattended operations.
• Standardize fixtures (zero-point clamping systems).
• Define tool strategies for long-duration machining cycles.
• Improve process capability (Cp, Cpk) and reliability.

Commissioning & Lifecycle Support

• Lead system commissioning, FAT/SAT, and ramp-up activities.
• Troubleshoot system-level issues across CNC, automation, and software layers.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives post-deployment.

Stakeholder & Customer Engagement

• Work closely with customers, internal teams, and vendors to define requirements.
• Provide technical leadership during proposals, design reviews, and implementation.
• Support ROI analysis, business case development, and capacity planning.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or related engineering field.
• 12+ years of experience in CNC machining and industrial automation.
• Proven experience with Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) or pallet-based automation.
• Strong understanding of CNC operations, tooling, fixturing, and machining processes.
• Experience integrating CNC machines and automation systems.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and CNC controllers (Fanuc/Siemens/Heidenhain).

Preferred Qualifications

• Direct experience with DST FMS and MMS platform or Equivalent.
• Experience in high-mix low-volume (HMLV) production environments.
• Hands-on experience in lights-out manufacturing systems.
• Experience integrating MES/ERP systems with shopfloor automation.
• Exposure to aerospace, automotive, or precision engineering industries.
• Strong analytical skills in:
  • OEE improvement
  • Cycle time optimization
  • ROI modeling
• Experience with robotic integration (KUKA, ABB, Fanuc).
• Project management and cross-functional leadership experience.
